Should Islam Be Outlawed As A CULT?

I've seen simalar questions, but here is a difference. If you have noticed, MANY dangerous cults have been gone after by governments and shut down. A cult is defined as one or more of many elements..., I've listed the most serious 3. See if any or all fit ISLAM....
1. The religion controls what it's believers are allowed to know.
2. The religion threatens it's members with death if they leave or convert to another religion (remember Jim Jones in Giana?)
3. The religion promotes violence in it's teachings.

Many cults have been shut down by governments. whether 1,000 members or 1,000,000 members makes no difference.
Kookie cults are not defined by the number of it's members.
And anyone answering this question with the old "look at the middle ages with the christian church", give it a rest with that answer. This is 2007, not the middle ages...and to use that is just a diversion from the question.

Ok...I see a couple answers that jump right into how all religions are a cult.
What we are dealing with is this:
When have you seen ANY religious leader, the Pope, a Rabbi, A buddist priest, Etc. ORDER THE DEATH OF ANYONE WHO GOES AGAINST THE RELIGION. ONLY ISLAM DOES IT PEOPLE!!!!
These nutjobs order the death of women who don't wear the covering on thier' face. If you speak out publicly against Islam, your likely to get a hit on you like Rushdi did. When was the last time Any christian leader ordered the death of anyone for disagreeing with the religion?

Yes it should be. Anything that comes in and tries to threaten the sovereignty of a nation and the security of the people should be outlawed, and the practitioners and converts duly reprimanded and charged with high treason.

The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islam and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many many Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.

Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed. Neither is innocent murder, or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.

Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. It is not fair for the majority of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occurring. Unfortunately, the Media will never let this be known, making it look like Muslims support these radical actions, when in reality they absolutely do not.

Definition of Ignorance, lets see if it defines a lot of the people here:
1) the state or fact of being ignorant; lack of knowledge, learning, information, etc.
2) The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed

1) You clearly don't know even the word Islam means peace. The things you see on TV are NOT a representation of Islam. That's foolish random killing which will be punished by Allah. You want to know what ISLAM is? Then stop wacthing TV and look at the true practicing Muslims around you.

And the CANDY CHICK making that comment about Hitler. If you support Hitler doing the horrible thing he did to the Jews, to the Muslims. Then you should be outlawed as a human all together. Even animals have more humility and tolerance then you have shown.

Christian... It's not even the Bible that's the final word -- it's your pastor's interpretation of the Bible.

Christian, and with an even worse threat -- spiritual death.

Christian. Promotes hatred of all other religions, which is social violence.

It turns out most mainstream religions are "cults", and a good number of atheistic movements also.

Kind of takes the kick out of the term "cult"... Really, what's the word good for? Only for insulting others, asserting our moral superiority.

...And the one who has to demand his own superiority is the one least likely to possess it.

I think the government would go after them, except there are now many in the government that belong. But are they proven to be what you define? If so, I think then it could happen if there were enough public out cry. Islam has been around for a long time, and has established itself as a legitimate religion.
