If your talking about wrangler vs. the sahara your obviously looking at a used vehicle since Jeep has since changed their classifications. With these models, the jeep wrangler comes with the most standard options you can get. some models even go as low as to not offer a/c. the sahara for these years was an offroad vehicle, equipped with offroad capabilities such as locking rear axles and other options comprable with todays rubicon. if you dont plan on doing any serious offroading then i would recommend the standard wrangler. as for 4x2 and 4x4, a 4x2 is the same exact thing as you see on every car on the streets. (four tires x two of them push) a 4x4 vehicle is much more equipped to handle anything that is thrown your way. i hope you decide on any wrangler though, it'll be a purchase you'll never regret.

For the 2007 model year:
The Sahara is a mainly cosmetic package that offers things like body coloed fender flares, power windows and keyless entry and upgraded audio and nav. as options. I believe that you can order a locker on either the X or the Sahara - they come std. on the Rubicon only.

For the earlier model years (1997 - 2006) there was no keyless entry, no navigation option (upgraded audio remains) and no power windows. You could upgrade to a heavy duty rear axle, but a locker was never offered. The body colored flares and other interior "amenities" remianed. Outside of the Resort Jeeps(surrys) and Dispatchers (postal Jeeps) There was never a 4x2 option offered - 2007 is the first year for that.

As far as is it worth it, only you can decide. A 4x2 Sahara is going to be much more like a mall crawling SUV (explorer etc.) It will be nicer inside and work just fine as a car, if you want the Wrangler because you like the way they look and never plan on off roading it will be just fine. If you plan on off-roading your Jeep, even mildly you're going to need to get 4x4. The base package for the Wrangler is an X model.

yes the price difference is well worth it,one is a 2 wheel drive vehicle, and the other one is a 4 wheel drive, and the difference in the trim packages both come with is a noticeable one ,but yes if i was going to buy a new jeep it would have everything i could get on it,that's where the price difference comes in at,to me a 2 wheel drive jeep is no better than a car would be,good luck on it hope this helps.

If you plan on buying a jeep get a 4x4 one. Why on earth would you spend the money on a 2WD jeep? 4X2 means that the vehicle is only 2WD, while 4X4 means the vehicle has the ability to pull the vehicle using all 4 wheels.

4x2 is front wheel drive. It's mainly for highway, street use.
4x4 you can go just about anywhere with it. If your looking for offroading 4x4 is the one to go with.
