Absolutely! I would love to have an atheist President, but probably won't happen for a long time.

I wouldnt vote for someone just because they are atheist. I would vote for the canidate that i think would make the best president. If the person who would make the best president (in my opinion) was atheist, then i would vote for him/her.

I would because then I wouldn't have to worry about the President making judgments with concern to an invisible man in the sky

If I thought that the Atheist would make a good president.

Why: Obvious reason...I think he'd make a good president.

I probably would not, only because an atheist has as much chance of actually being elected as Osama bin Laden. This country's in the grip of religious extremists, and they're not about to let go. I would certainly love to see an atheist in the Oval Office, though. It would be a VAST improvement over the current occupant, the usurper-in-chief.

i don't believe that religion should be focused on as much as it is. I believe that everyone should practice whatever they wish to practice. I think it should be the same as far as ethnicity and gender equality; unfortunately the world doesn't work like this. Maybe one day we can all learn to be tolerant of others and focus on the more important things in life. Like global warming, population control or cancer, just to name a few. And to answer your question...i would absolutely vote for them. Religion is not a factor for me at all; there are more important things to focus on when making up your mind about someone. ;-)

That would depend on his/her views on the issues.. Voting history on the issues (if applicable)..

I would not vote for anyone solely based on their religious beliefs or non-beliefs... It takes far more than a religious belief or non-belief to make a good leader..

Yes, IF they were in line with my politically. I vote issues, not belief system. It would make me very happy if an open atheist ran, though.

Depends on what he or she was promising to do for our country. If my political beliefs matched up with theirs, then I would have no problem voting for them. Same goes for a Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or any other religion, as long as their religion doesn't affect their ability to run the country.

It all depends on his/her platform. Just because i'm an Atheist, it doesn't mean that i'm automatically going to vote for one.
