If one purchases a Quran, Bible or Torah then treats that book inappropriately or uses it as an article of protest: do other individuals have any right to physically stop the one so maltreating or abusing what some or they themselves consider a sacred book ?

It's just a book, after all. One should be able to do whatever they want with their property.

I once met a guy on the street who was eating the pages of the bible--he offered me one, I declined. To each their own!

Well, that's something bad to do..
Mistreating a religious book..
Eventhough you are not from one of the three monotheistic religions, you should know that this is wrong: not respecting others..
So I say, stop as best as you can..

technically i guess that would fall under property rights, wouldnt it? so no, they wouldnt have any right to.
