It is not good for a cat to wear a flea collar - it can harm the cat more than the fleas causing skin irritation and/or hair loss around her neck. Also it can be dangerous if she goes outside and it is not a self-releasing collar.

The topical solution will work beautifully. Put the flea collar in your vaccum cleaner bag so any fleas that are vacuumed up will die in the bag.

Yes - its too much. IRemove the flea collar now. If you are using a liquid flea preventative like Advantage, Frontline, Biospot, etc. that is all that is needed. Flea collars are bad ideas anyway, for several reasons - they are rather toxic to have on the cats body - the spot on type treatments kill fleas in a totally different way. The Flea collars can harden with time & cats climb, if they get caught by the collar, they can hang & die. Be sure the flea preventative you are using is made for use on cats - many preventatives made for dogs can kill your cat, so be careful. If you still see fleas after a week, you may need to remove the kitty from the premises & bomb your home or spray the floors & carpets with BioSpot for cats or something of that nature, to rid the home of fleas. Cat must be put in a carrier & taken out of the house when you do this (put carrier on a table or something off the ground so kitty isn't on the ground picking up more fleas) & rooms need to be well aired out & carpets/floors, etc. should be dry before allowing cat back inside. You might also need to treat your yard if there is a heavy infestation. Read labels well on any insecticides to be sure they are cat safe.

No it should not be a problem. The liquid is made to seep into the coat and keep fleas off while the collar is more of a topical treatment that really only prevents fleas around the neck and ears. Collars are much less effective than the liquid and it is good to use both but I wouldn't reley on the collar alone.

YES--this is "overkill" and could harm/kill your cat! Take the flea collar off NOW! If you used Frontline, Frontline Plus or Advantage, that is all that is needed. The fleas are not going to drop dead immediately as these products have to work their way thru your cats system. But they do the very best job by not only killing the fleas, but kills any flea eggs and keeps any more from hatching. Frontline Plus also repels both ticks & mosquitos. These products are made to be used NO MORE than ONCE a month--so, mark your calendar, and PLEASE take the flea collar off NOW. Good luck in getting this flea problem under control, I had one last year but got it stopped IMMEDIATELY with ONE application of Frontline Plus.

flea collars are worthless. don't waste your time or money. and be careful when using topical flea treatments for cats. the only safe ones are Frontline, Advantage and Revolution. the stuff you get at the grocery store (and even some pet stores) can KILL YOUR CAT! you're better off using a metal flea comb and drowning the fleas in a solution of liquid Dawn and water.

If the liquid was Frontline or Advantage, you don't need the flea collar too. The liquid will do the trick. Flea collars are very toxic and don't work very well.
