You can buy a detector (often used to turn on/off lights in a room that is only occasionally occupied) from any of the electrical supply places that sell products made by companies like Leviton which makes a bunch of them.

The cheapest approach is to get one of those driveway light automatic turn-on packages. It contains the detector and a line voltage socket that is intended to hold a spot light bulb. Unscrew the bulb and put in an adapter that turns the socket into a receptacle for a lamp plug. Put that lamp in the other room and plug it into that adapter. When the PIR detector spots activity in the sleeper's room it will turn on the outlet and the lamp in the other room will come on.

most hardware or security sales outlets. we got one for dad, but I warn you it will wake the others in the house if not in the same room as the sleepwalker with the door closed. it's rather loud.
