It's a pill, and it's supposed to cure acne, but it has a lot of side effects.

I was wondering:

1. Have you tried it?
2. Did it work?
3. Were you worried about side effects?
4. Did you have side effects, and what were they?
5. Would you reccommend it to friends/family?
6. If you had to, would you take it again?

My son was put in it when he was 14.

It helped but not very much.

The side effects are horrendous, it wreaked his vision (he had to get glasses), and you have to stay out of the sun ( burns easily and for your eyes).

They wanted to put my youngest son on it and I said "NO"!! I would not let any of children ever take it again.

And it is very expensive, about $140 CDN / month.

my son took accutane for two years. It did indeed clear up his cystic acne. But it also damaged his liver, he can no longer use Tylenol or drink alcohol as it causes considerable pain. He uses Ibuprofen and doesn't drink and otherwise is healthy. So some think the side effects are worth it to be rid of the acne, some don't. Choice is yours.
