Hello all. For all of my life I have been blessed with beautiful thick hair-so much so that sometimes it was a pain. Well I now rue the days I complained about it because over the last 3-6 months, somehow-I have lost at least HALF of my hair if not significantly more! What I now have it feels very strange compared to what I have always had, it is a mere fraction of what was there even a year ago. It still looks normal, and Im grateful for that, but this recent loss is sudden and DRASTIC and that deeply concerns me, from a health perspective as well as an aesthetic standpoint. I'm not a superficial person but I always loved my hair and honestly it really did make me happy to have it. I know it might sound strange to some but I dont even feel quite like myself since this has happened.
Anyone have any ideas at all what might be causing this? And what to do about it? all answers will be appreciated. I'm willing to do just about anything I can to get my old hair back! Thank you!

If your are coloring your hair then you should probably stop and also check your diet to make sure you are getting enough protein and everything else in your diet. Take a multivitamin and also if you need to check into hair extensions but this too pulls on your hair. You can get a consultation for free to see what they think but don't let them take you for your money. Hope it works out for you.

I agree that it is important to see a doctor. But also research hair loss to see what the doctor should be testing for before you go in to she her or him.

Three to six months seems like a short period of time. Alopecia is one of the things to rule out. Look up baldness to see if your hair is falling out in a way that is normal for balding people because it doesn't seem like it is.

If you're on contraceptive pills, stop them instantly, because it will become permanent! Some contraceptives are known to make your hair fall out and can even leave bold patches.
