We did damn well in Korea. Read the history, "This Kind of War", we beat the North Korean and Chinese Armies consistently and constantly after initial set backs. We did not loose ONE tactical engagement in Vietnam, we lost on the lack of political expediency. I don't care about the respect of the world, which is one reason in and of itself to maintain a strong military. Our foreign policy is there to further our interests as a nation; we were attacked, so we responded. Study your history, you have a problem with understanding fundamentals and are parroting a political line when in comes to Korea and Vietnam. Korea is a free nation today because of sacrifices made in that war.

Yeah, poor Bush. Not only responsible for the war in Iraq but also responsible for VietNam and Korea *sigh* What are we to do?
Did you ever stop to think that Bush's hands are tied in many ways by Congress who give permission to do something, then backstep and say no over and over again? They are so indecisive, the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing anymore. We either need to go in and take care of business or get out, I agree, but it would be nice if Congress would quit playing their games all the time, too.
And while we're at it, let's blame Bush for the Civil War, too. I'm sure someone in his family had a hand in that.......
Maybe we've lost the respect of the world because even Americans don't stand behind their country anymore. Respect starts within first and you lose on that count.
KenC ~ excellent points :)

We did ok in Korea. There's still a North and South. We cut and ran in Vietnam. And you can't blame JFK as some people like to. We had military people in South Vietnam in the mid-1950's...I think we were actually trying to help in Korea and Vietnam. But the current "war" is all about money and power. They're buliding military bases in the middle east as I speak. And you're right about Bush.

I think you have to take things in context. Korea turned to a stalemate, because we didn't want to have to go at it with China. Vietnam was an inherited problem in which the militaries hands were tied. That could have been won had they been willing to get nasty. And the war in Iraq was won in 1 month. The policing action of an internal sectarian war has been going on for 5 years.

I don't think losing is the middle name of America. Some losers have been elected to the role of president and have launched some loser imperialistic resource wars. One cannot fault the America people, in that many of them have swallowed slick propaganda, undergone years of subtle conditioning to accept whatever the talking head on TV suggests. The American people have no control over the foreign masters that play the role of the marionette to the puppet that was elected. America could recover once the country matures, no disrespect to America but its a very new country with no real history ( 200-300 years say compared to countries near me, thousands of years old, is like a tiny blip ) still wild in its infancy stage.

The military did not lose them, the politicians lost them by imposing limitations on the military that caused them to operate less effectively. If politicians would let the military do what they are trained to do, rather have them fight in a manner to increase the politician's popularity...they all would have ended quickly.

particular, it is, even nonetheless it is politically incorrect to call the President "Hussein Obama" or to apply his middle call once you does no longer say "George Walker Bush" or "William Jefferson Clinton". quite, it is politically incorrect to purpose to apply his call in this sort of vogue that it biases the reader against him.
