The number 7 is the number of man. The book of Revelation has many number 7's that are "revealed" to man about man's final days.

Seven was a sacred number among the Hebrews
It may here have a reference to the opinion of the Jewish doctors, who maintain that seven things existed before the creation of the world, one of which was the Messiah.
