one of my friend has black hairs above her lip and she wanted to know whats a best, faster way to get rid of it. shaving is not a good idea but bleach or wax it? if you bleach it how long do you have to do it again and waxing is VERY painful but is it worth it and does it last longer? if she waxes it for the first time will it hurt alot and would it hurt after the 2nd time she does it?

Waxing is the way to go. Have it done at a salon - it's not that expensive. The effect lasts 4-6 weeks and is less painful over time. Another plus - the hair follicles are weakened so the hair grows back finer over time.

Ways to make waxing less painful:
1) Ask the tech for a cold wax if you have sensitive skin.
2) Don't have your upper lip waxed right before your period. Some women have a lower pain threshold at this time because of hormone levels.
3) Avoid caffeine at least 24 hours before your appointment.
4) Keep aloe vera on hand to sooth the skin.
5) DO NOT wax if you use Retin-A, Differin, etc. These medications thin the skin. Let the tech know of any medications your are taking.

Threading is another option. A thread is wound tight & rolled against the skin. As it spins in the other direction, the thread catches & pulls out hairs.

It's a good alternative for women on medications like Retin-A who should avoid waxing.

I don't recommend bleaching unless one has really fair skin. Most women end up w/ blond fuzz that shows up & some women are sensitive to the bleach.

Waxing will lossen your skin so it will be better to thread the hair. Using hair removing cream is also risky so go to a good salon and do threading.

Hair remover cream works best, it's fast and effective.
