Then why does He say "yes" to cancer patients, people who are recovering from drugs/bad relationship/booze/gambling, safe travels, money problems, and other relatively insignificant prayers?

And then He says "No" and/or "Later" to prayers like world peace, end of hunger, cures for disease.

How come He says "yes." to the San Antonio Spurs, and "No" to His chosen people's pleas for peace for say, oh I don't know 4,000 years or so?

So my real question is, how can you believe any God is answering your prayers with the quality and quanity of fulfilled prayers?

"How can you consider someone's healing to be insignificant?"

I said "relatively insignificant" which means when 1 person doesn't die as soon it really doesn't effect the 7 billion people in the world. Perhaps a dictionary is in order. And you also asked who is in control of the world, by definition it has the be God, or else your whole religion is bunk.

"The only time there will be peace is when......the armies surround isreal"

The only time there will be peace is when we go to the biggest war of all time.

Sigh.

Great question. God doesn't simply say yes, no, maybe. God has a wonderful plain drawn out. First to start answering this question I think we need to establish what prayer exactly is.

Many people think prayer is just a thing where we ask God for what we want or think we need. Prayer is much more than that though. Prayer is a way to directly communicate with God. As in any relationship communicating makes you closer to that person. You might call your friend to see how he/she is doing. Prayer is our way of calling up God and talking to Him. We should constantly pray to God. Prayer is also a way we learn to accept the different plans God has for our lives. Sometimes when someone says "no" to us, we want to talk with them and find out why. When we pray, we are talking to God and drawing closer to Him and many times we recieve that understanding from Him. Many people view prayer as a very formal event. But it doesn't have to be. Sometimes when I'm eating lunch, I just tell God about my day and thank Him for what He has done. God already knows what happened in my day already but I still like talking to him. It's like when you were a teenager. Your parents most likely knew what was going on in your life, but they just wanted you to tell them about it.

Ok now that we established prayer I will try to better answer your question. Why does God answer some prayers and not others. Well God made up a plan before the earth was even created. He planned that I would be writing this right now and that you would ask this question. Everything is like a big spider web. Sometimes we don't exactly understand why it happens but it fits perfectly. Pain and sorrow happens in every person's life. When we are tempted and experience pain we tend to draw closer to God. We usually come out of a bad situation closer to God. We live in a distorted world. When Adam and Eve first sinned that's when it started. Sin makes things distorted. But when we go to heaven and when God's new kingdom on earth is established there will be no pain or sorrow for Christians. I hope I was of help to you.
God Bless!
Juli

I believe just from the fact you are trying to desupport our god that you sir are an atheist go figure.

Now we can believe in this god because if you actually read the bible it says that there will not be peace. The only time there will be peace is when revelation, judgement day comes. It says "when the armies surround isreal" thats one of the signs that hes coming. Of course translation could be wrong but note how they use the word armies.

Modern day term for armies is a group of people gathered together for a offensive or defensive manuver gathere for a certain united cause.

So pretty much thats why there will never be peace. but thats not all of your question. I dont see how you can call cancer patients relatively small prayer. I sure pray you dont get cancer although it may be an eye opener.

Fact is lots of the prayers wont be answered because god cant interfere. If he interferes too much people will become dependant on him. Of course he cant not act at all or else people will together abandon him. So he evens the balance i think with your so called "moderate" prayers.

Simple. You can't. In fact, you might as well be praying to Odin, Buddha, Spider-Man, or this can of beer I'm holding. Believe me, you'll get one of the same three answers if you do. I think a much better being to put faith in is yourself and the loved ones in your life, because we're the true gods around here!

It is written that when you know God has heard your prayer (get assurance in your spirit) you know you have an anser. And God will only hear your request if you are abiding in His Word & Love. When you know He has heard you, then you have to act out in faith & receive it. Like healing. People don't get healed just because they believe they get healed. They have to act out in obedience to receive the healing.

I think god must be a detail person, who likes to deal with the small things that don't take too much of his power, but can't really tackle the big things. Get rid of Suzies pimple for the prom? No sweat. Help inspire scientists to eradicate AIDS? Too much effort. If you were being worshipped 24 hours a day by gullible people, you'd be lazy too!

Of course, it's all nonsense, god doesn't exist and everyone knows it.

Everything is for a reason. Since God does that there must be a good explanation for whatever it is.

By the way every body gets healed from disease. Just because a person dies of a disease doesn't mean that they are not healed in their souls in either heaven or hell

How can you consider someone's healing to be insignificant? I'm sure those suffering from such ailments don't consider it to be so. They have much appreciation for miracles granted in response to their prayers

As far as world problems, apparently you don't realize who is in control of the world. Try 2 Corinthians 4: 3, 4 on for size: "But if our gospel be hidden, it is hidden to them that are lost, in whom the god of this world [Satan the devil] hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of Gid, should shine unto them."

No rational person believes in prayer or god. Obviously, they can believe because they are not rational.

Correct. And you would get the same answers praying to a jug of milk.

The responses to prayer are the same as if there were no God at all...
