I am sorry to hear that, and Unfortunately, i can answer, your "heartwrenching" question! had a friend in same situation and done same things too, it will get you eventually, if it has NOT been caught in time, which in 85% of cases it never has, it spreads inside lympnodes. bones, and so on, i wish there were a kinder way to tell, i won't tell how long," and the later stage. all i can say, keeping my fingers +sed and hoping your doc. got it all, got brother, with troatcancer in remission. phew!

You do not say what type of skin cancer you are asking about. It is fairly common for people to have recurrent basal and squamous cell skin cancers pop up rather often if the individual spent lots of time in the sun, did extensive tanning or had intensive light treatments for for a disease like psoriasis or vitiligo. While you can die from untreated squamous cell skin cancers this would be quite rare in someone who was being evaluated regularly by a dermatologist and having their skin cancers treated when they were small.

Early melanoma that is treated promptly can also happen. Senator John McCain has had several bouts of melanoma that were so far successfully treated.

Stay out of the sun, wear long sleeved clothing and wide brimmed hats, wear broad spectrum sunblock and be evaluated regularly by your dermatologist and you should do just fine. good luck

I knew a woman who died at 53 from melanoma. It wasn't diagnosed until Stage 4, though. Hopefully, your's was diagnosed at an earlier stage, or it is squamous cell or basal cell; you're not likely to die from either of those.
