whats the point of NASCAR suspending the crew chiefs if they are still allowed at the track, have access to alot of information through internet, and are able to comunicate with the drivers and teams? doesnt that defeat the purpose of being suspended?

Go Jeff Gordon!

Overseaer 9, obviously you arent listening to the commentators because today they said Jeff Gordons Crew chief Steve Letarte was at the race in a motor home.

oh my bad, it was Dale Jr.'s crew chief who was there. and during the race they did say that the chiefs could talk and text message the drivers.

There is no point. Its just a bunch a bullcrap! Nascar needs to think of something else to do to the crew chiefs if they need to. It doesn't do anything to the drivers, look what happened with Jeff Gordon, he almost won the race today. Who needs the crew chiefs anyways?! Anyone can do their job!!

Apparently you weren't listening when they said that the teams would be monitored and that the suspended crew chiefs would not be aloud to talk to the team or the driver.

Heavy Metal has a point. They shouldn't be allowed to even go to the shop. "SUPPOSEDLY"........they aren't supposed to be able to communicate with the teams during the race, but when Larry Mac talked about that on the pre-race show...the NASCAR official never mentioned cell phones, just no radio communications.

They should be banned from the track altogether, like they used to be! But, the penalties are not meant to punish the team, and take them out of the running, just to get their attention, and make an example out of them for all the teams. Just like the $100,000 fine (drop in a bucket for them).

I agree if they are suspended they shouldn't be allowed to even go to the race shop let alone the race track, until the suspension is over.

First of all they arent allowed at the track!!!! Obviously you never hear the commentators saying 'Oh yeah so-and-so is sitting at home today watching the race due to his suspension' I think it is hard enough not being there talking to your driver! I think the fact that they cant go to the track is bad enough!!! THEY ARENT ALLOWED AT THE TRACK!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!! LISTEN TO THE COMMENTATORS NEXT TIME THEY TALK ABOUT CREW CHEIF SUSPENSIONS!!!!!!!!

Good point. They should be banned from all aspects of racing even the team shop untill the suspension is over.

I agree. It sets a precedent that the suspensions are weak and ineffective---just more yakking for the commentators.
