ok...so here's how it goes:
i have been cutting myself on my wrists for a while now. its really weird, i get really depressed a lot, but i never actually want to kill myself, i dont even know why i do it. i guess at the beginning it was to get attention, but i very quickly found out it wasnt the attention i was looking for, but im having trouble stopping.i dont know...it just feels like im releasing all the bad feelings of that day, and then i feel ok. i really need help here because it worries me, im not crazy or a girl with problems.ive got everything.completely normal, and i want to stay the way i was. i cant figure out why i get such a high from seeing the blood.please someone suggest something i should do that would help me stop?

First of all, engaging in self harm does not make a person crazy. Maybe there aren't problems in your life but since you have the urge to cut than the problem could be something internal such as a mental illness (IE: depression) or some other sort of chemical imbalance and I hope my suggestion of this possibility does not offend you as mental illness is not something to be ashamed of, however it is something to look further into. There is not always an external cause for mental illnesses. There is a theory that suggests that when a person cuts that doing so reacts on the opiate receptors in the brain which may be responsible for the high. Some people who want to stop cutting will place rubber bands around their wrists and when they feel the urge to cut they will snap the rubber bands against them. It's been an effective cure for many. But as I said before, it's best to see what the underlying problem is to see if it's related to a mental illness so I'd suggest seeing a doctor if that is at all possible. Many people with mental illnesses are not treated and can go unaware of it all of their lives all because of fear, shame, the stigma attached to mental illnesses & denial that anything could be wrong with them mentally. I am not saying you ARE mentally ill, just that self harm is a sign of a possible mental illness and it's worth looking into.
