Isn't this question a little ambiguous - was the suffering caused on purpose, by accident or by carelessness, was it intended to cause actual suffering and to what degree was the suffering and who to? Did this person or creature deserve this suffering, was the suffering mental or physical??????? blah blah blah
Any answer you get in response to your question is simply based on each individuals interpretation of what your question actual means to them, thus will not necessarily answer your question in the light it was intended.
I would interpret this question to mean 'someone who has purposely caused suffering to an individual with intent to make them suffer whether physically or mentally.
If the person that committed the suffering has a conscious then it maybe a case that their mental anguish is suffering enough, however, if they don't have a conscious then they do deserve to suffer and in my opinion it should definitely be significantly more suffering then the actual suffering which was caused to the victim but then we have the question of the type of suffering which should be inflicted to the perpetrator - physical suffering does not last as long as mental suffering, however, physical suffering is often alot more severe.

That is a brilliant question.
'Suffering' is like everything else in the universe, it has an *equal* cause:
Suffering only increases when additional causes of suffering are added.
Suffering only decreases when causes that create suffering are decreased.

No! I've been saying the same thing for so long and Christians just repeat...they did it to themselves...like robots! How can anyone be so cruel as to think anyone deserves to suffer infinitely for a mistake they made during a period of time that in comparison to infinity is a microscopic speck. I think its really really sick

The idea of an eternally burning Hell does not come from the Bible, but from pagan Greece and Rome. The Roman Catholic Church borrowed this doctrine that is not supported by Scripture, and they handed it down to the apostate Protestant churches. The Bible is quite clear that the soul is not immortal and that, at the end of the Millennium, all unsaved sinners will be destroyed by fire instantly. They will not be tortured forever. They will cease to exist. To believe that sinners will burn in fire forever is to believe that sin is stronger than God!
Some people might point to a single line of scripture taken out of context to "prove" that Hell is eternal, but they fail to compare that line of verse to every other verse in the Bible that deals with that same subject. When you do, the answer becomes clear. We must compare line upon line, precept upon precept, and we must allow the Holy Spirit to guide our understanding, and not lean on our own.
For example, some people might quote a verse that speaks of an "eternal fire" as punishment for the wicked. But if they actually read their Bible, they will find this exact same phrase used to describe the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Are S&G still burning today? Of course not. When S&G burned with an "eternal fire", it meant that the EFFECTS were eternal - those cities will never rise again. Also, the term "unquenchable fire" means that it cannot be PUT out, but it will burn out on its own. Likewise, when it is described as sinners burning in an "eternal fire", it means that the effects will be eternal - those people will never live again - in Hell or otherwise. The Bible also tells us that "God alone hath immortality". Immortality is a gift bestowed by God upon those who are saved. The Wicked NEVER inherit eternal life of any kind.
Our God is merciful and just; He knows He must punish the wicked, as his justice demands, but it will be a swift punishment. People will be instantly consumed, never to live in sin and misery again. It will be like putting a bad dog to sleep. Fire is the only way to purge this Earth of the effects of sin and sinners. As in the case of S&G, the fire will eventually burn itself out. When this happens, God will re-create the Earth in all its infinite beauty just as it was in the beginning before Man messed it up. The saved will be able to live in and enjoy this new Paradise, and sin will not rear its ugly head a second time.

That person would not be the one to decide the suffering he/she has caused or know its ramnifications on the victim. Therefore that person would not know if the suffering they caused was "finite"To sum it up.......yes....no......i am not sure.....

If one chooses to reject God for eternity (an infinite amount of time), then one is causing an infinite amount of sin.
