Absolutely. You don't want to leave a job with good benefits to a job with little to no benefits. Some companies require that you work up to 6 months before benefits kick in so keep an eye open for that. Some do not offer a dental or vision plan and if you already have one, you may prefer to keep it.

Also, you may find a job that has a hirer salary but more expensive medical benefits. You'll need to figure out how much more money you'll really make in the long run if your portion of the benefits increases significantly.

Good luck!

Compare the whole benefits package, all of it, vacation, sick leave, retirement, deferred compensation, various insurances (dental/vision/medical/long term disability/life) and what they do/do not cover. One can never be sure that a benefit won't be needed, long term disability payments/disability retirement for example... I was active healthy and sure didn't count on being unable to work due to a career ending back injury. Your age does not matter, stuff happens! Other things to consider in this day and age is expense related to getting to the job, gas/maintenance (use a per mile cost), higher auto insurance premiums and parking/toll expenses if any. You may actually negate the benefit of a higher paying job by having to drive farther and losing many hours a week of otherwise useful time. The only time the trade off (even a lower salary) is worth considering is when the new job offers opportunities or a career path that you would not otherwise have had. One step back two steps forward sort of thing. Good luck, hope you don't my expanding on your question.

If a medical plan is a big requirement for you, then yes. You do not want to get a new job only to find out they apply really bad health insurance.

Benefits, including medical plans, are something to look at when evaluating a job offer.
