I have kind of chestnut brown hair and really want highlights but I don't know what colour suits my hair colour best...
Please help me think of a colour for my highlights...

Be Careful because Highlights are really hard to do right at home, it can end up looking blotchy. Personally, I like caramel highlights in chestnut brown hair because I like the natural look ,that doesn't have too drastic a contrast/ stripey look. jmo

I just had mine done and it is chestnut brown with caramel highlights and I am very happy with it. I might go back in a month and have one other shade of highlights woven in too, a little bit lighter for an end of summer look.
I colored and highlighted my hair at home for years but now pay to have it done in a salon. One screw up with color at home made me realize that haircolor is a job for professionals. Find someone who will take the proper time with you though and not rush you or leave color/highlights on you too long while they work on other customers.
Hair color and highlights are fun ways to make yourself feel good. Good luck and don't be afraid to try new things!

How about a red shade? Golden highlights would work also.

go to the salon and ask them for a color that's no more than two shades lighter than your real color..
