Isn't the Bible a great big banquet from which people like to take those cakes they just happen to like ?

1. Jesus used parables to teach. Many great spiritual people in all of history have done the same thing. In the New Testament, it is always made clear that Jesus is telling a parable.
2. Most of the Bible is in literary forms. Metaphor is a common tool in literature.
3. Adam and Eve and Noah are neither metaphors nor parables, but myths developed to explain that which had no explanation at the time.

I know what you're doing, you've gone through the bible, well you've probably gone to a website and looked for little things to pick out to try and expose the bible. You're probably not interested at all in what it has to say, you just want to make someone else wrong. If you read the context of the scripture you'd realize that when someone says something is symbolic or a metaphor you would understand. For instance. Did Jesus move a mountain? No he didn't. So Jesus didn't have faith? Not hardly. It is symbolic. Jesus said through our faith we can conquer the world. Does that mean if we have faith we become all powerful? No. Jesus conquered the world through his faith by remaining so until the point of death. That is the point. Oftentimes Jesus put things in simple terms for our own understanding.

Maybe you should ask someone who can explain them? There are many out there who call themselves Christians, both genuine and otherwise that have very little bible knowledge or that know the art and science of biblical interpretation (hermeneutics) but there are many that have read and still do study the bible for all its worth. Maybe you could inspire others yourself and become that one who has learned to read the bible and prayed for the Lord to teach you.
I can answer most questions that are put to me about the bible but this has not come without years of study and I do not expect someone much younger than I to be able to answer every question thrown at them. That would be unfair and irrational. If you want to know something more specific then ask.......

Usually because the passage sounds like nonsense, or because the interpreter is not informed enough to comprehend it, or because it contradicts the interpreters beliefs, their current understanding, or it conflicts with their own personal agenda.
Either that, or they're just too lazy to study-up, or think, and they make up some 'nice' BS about it.
Almost everyone I hear falls into biblical subjectivity at some point...and relies on what they've heard someone else say, or what someone else thinks. They all seem to have their favorite pre-concieved ideas, and tend not to investigate new areas of possibility.

Because we've taken the time to study the bible and learned to differentiate between literal and figurative speech. If someone told their friend was in hot water with his or her parents, would you think that the person's parents were being mean for putting their kid in hot water or would you understand it as figurative language?

The word of God is alive it is God, so lets say we read something we didn't understand we still benefit, as no word goes out null and void, so read your bibles and don't rack your brains trying to understand it, God even said that? one day all will be reveled to us Amen
