".....brahmeti paramatmeti bhagavan iti shabdyate"
translation: "this non-dualistic substance is known as impersonal brahman, universal soul and supreme personality of godhead."
this is how the vedas answer this particular question.

I reject deism altogether. Spiritual energy is pervasive; the tendency to personify it is understandable but I think we as a species are beginning to outgrow it as we understand more of human consciousness and how multi-dimensional it may be. I'm not sure what you mean by an impersonal god. If you are addressing yourself to Christians only,you should indicate that.
