There as usual is no proper answer to this question, just a general feeling that no one want's potential or actual killers and murderers in this country. Even if they have just spent most of there lives doing a sentance for whatever, any posibility that they can be sent somewhere else after is a good thing. Problem being the Liberal establishment crying Human Rights so loud it infringes my ear drums, and an appeal system that lasts so long the system practicaly forgets about them and who they are/were.
Foriegn Nationals comitting a crime, no matter what, sent home after the sentance is finished, or fine paid.
Those born in another Country but naturalised to this one, well that takes time to happen, and in that time you should have learn't the rules, if serious enough for jail, withdrawal of citizenship, and again goodbye.
Those born here, and found guilty of being in an illegal terrorist organisation, of commiting an act, or attempting to commit an act of terrorism, life, that means life, no parole.
Then, to ensure this policy is efficient, tighten the border controls, I have walked through at the airport from Europe twice, with no passport shown.
The ferrys at 3 in the morning, a real free for all, no checks on anything from what I have been told, genuine story, from a shocked freind returning from Spain in his car. Decent border controls, no returns, no suspected terrorists walking in for free in the first place.
Not the solution? Maybe not, but common sense, hard but fair, the only people complaining would be those who have broken the law.

So if you are going to send them back to the country they came from, first of all you've got to use "valuable police time"catching them in the first place.
Then it costs money to actually transport them out of the country.
And in the case of the recent atrocities carried out by Muslim terrorists most were from the UK anyway.
But i think that you are missing the point here, which is, what about stopping them doing it in the first place then we don't have deaths and carnage in our cities, after all when they have committed the bombing or whatever don't you think it's a little too late.

What if they're british? and if they are foreign then why should they have the privilege of avoiding our legal system and just get a free flight home instead? It's annoyingly slow and expensive but it's our legal system that keeps this country free. It has changed dramatically since the war on terror has begun. Without our legal system being allowed to function properly we leave the way open for tyranny from our own government who will have nothing to hold them in check and be accountable to. We're not far away losing the right to peaceful protest - if we carry on in this way we'll end up in the sort of distopian society numerous political thinkers and writers have warned us about.

Because they don't walk around with big sign that says 'I'm terrorist, I'm guilty, take me away.'
Often times suspects know other buddies who may be planning more attacks. So there is lot of intelligence values to each suspect. You still have to prosecute them by laws.
So are you saying people should forget about everything until something blows up and just deport people?

Why don't we just treat them nicely, let them off on the grounds of religious hatred, detain them but keep and clothe them, affording them pleasures at the expense of the British taxpayer, and finally let them back into society under the misguided premise they no longer present a threat to all us nice people.
UH. What? We're doing that already?
Oh, perhaps politicians might just realise the present system doesn't work and bring back the death penalty.
My choice, Kill them and broadcast it in their country (that's what they do to us)

Send them back to the country so what? They will just rejoin their groups and develop a new terrorist attack.

if they try to kill people in a way that is not in line with the ethics of war then they should be tried for a war crime and punnished in accordance with the findings of the court
