Skating schools always group students together by their skating level and age. Usually 5-and-under, 6-8, and 9-11 are put together. If either of you is very tall or very short, you might get put in with older/younger kids.

Did you and your sister want to take lessons together? If so, your parents may want to look into "semi-private" lessons. It's a little more expensive than groups, but you can both take lessons/practice together, choose the instructor, and work out a schedule.

There are many cities named "Miami", but here's a few places to check out.

In Florida:
Kendall Ice Arena -- http://www.kendallicearena.com/
Scott Rakow Youth Center -- http://www.cmbpr.com/scottrakow.aspx?ifvar=scottrakow_icerink.htm

In Ohio:
Goggin Arena @ Miami University -- http://www.ice.muohio.edu/index.php?go=group_lessons
Oxford (OH) Skating Club -- http://www.oxfordskateclub.com/
The Ice Zone Boardman, OH -- http://www.theicezone.com/learn-to-skate.asp

In Canada (Manitoba):
Miami Community Arena - http://www.cici.mb.ca/miami/

I think you said you were in Miami (when you answered another question?

If you are in Miami . . .
Kendall Ice Arena
(they say only ice arena in Miami-Dafe county on their site)
10355 Hammocks Blvd.
Miami, Fl. 33196
Tel. (305) 386 - 8288
http://www.kendallicearena.com/SK8CURIC.HTM
Tots class age 3-6
Basic classes age 6-14

If you are in Miami "Beach" .. . part of Parks & Recreation
Scott Rakow Youth Center Ice Rink
2700 Sheridan Ave.
Miami Beach, FL 33139
305-673-7767
http://www.miamibeachfl.gov/newcity/press/press04/icerink.asp (this is the official site, but check with them for current info!)

But if I'm wrong and you're not in Miami, you can check with your local ice rink . . . most rinks do have classes for little ones to older kids to adults. I don't know about specifically ten and under . . . ten usually is clumped with "older kids" which can vary . . . but tots usually means less than 5/6-ish.

Hope that helps! Have fun skating!

If you live in the USA most ice arenas offer Learn To skate Classes which they are for kids...go to your local ice rink and ask them about learn to skate lessons. They cost about $30-$40 (depending on the rink) and they include skate rental and you can go and learn how to skate.

most rinks offer Learn-to-Skate classes. try looking on www.sk8stuff.com, which has a rink locator. however, most rinks don't have classes specifically for kids ten and under, so you might end up in a class with some older kids. although a lot of beginning skaters are under ten anyway.
hope this helps and good luck!
