No, because of the profession that I'm in, I'm subjected to random drug testing. I take a few prescription meds and they don't cause a positive test. the testing is very advance and they could eliminate all prescription meds.

Most companies screen for specific drugs in your system.

Are you on pain killers or similar drugs?

The last time I took a drug screen at work, the form np longer asked for a list of recent drugs. I believe they stopped asking because of privacy issues.

If I were you, I would ask them when you go in for the test. If you really want to be proactive, take the prescription bottle with you so they can see that you are taking valid prescribed medication.

Generally, I would think that they are looking for pot and narcotics. Our comany does not even screen for cocain and thelike because it is out of your system so quickly.

i work at a staffing agency. we send people for drug tests all the time.

this is how is works:
where we send candidates they do not let you disclose medications before the test.
if you fail, you present us with the prescription
we check the prescription with a doctor at the drug test facility
if the prescription can cause a false positive for the drug we declare the candidate as having passed the test

for example:
a lot of pain killers will cause a false positive for opiates
nothing will cause a false positive for marijuana

Tell them in advance. For the most part, the tests can tell the difference between different types of drugs, for the things they're testing for on job drug tests.

As long as you have a valid prescription for them, then no you do not fail, claim that you are on them prior to the test, which is on the questionnaire you fill out prior
