so the mythology goes a 5,000 yr old earth was populated instantaneously then flooded and then was repopulated in its entirety in a few thousand years. sloths got around this planet fairly quickly causing one to wonder if they are accurately named.

You must know its actually a comedy.
Its like Will & Grace - "Noah & His ARk". Episodes every week as they all get crabby being cramped up together.
Of course, it did not do to well in Egypt. They were building the pyramids at the time and did not have time to stop to watch a TV show about a flood.
