I know that the ten commandments say you should keep marriage holy and all that, but where does it say no sex before marriage?

Fornication is sex before marriage.

1Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

1Corinthians 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Galations 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

The Bible IS NOT a Book of "Can't have this; Can't have that"

The Bible is a Book of PRINCIPLES where MANY TIMES the Reader needs 2 Use Discernment and Read BETWEEN THE LINES !

The Bible DOES SAY 2 Abstain from FORNICATION; which is defined by MANY Bible Dictionary's as PRE-Marital Sex

AND the Bible says that "he that commits Fornication is SINNING AGAINST ONES OWN BODY"

The Bible also says to "FLEE From Fornication"; just like Joseph did with Potifor's Wife !

Read Song of Solomon. It's a very steamy book of two lovers in the Bible--but they're married. God's purpose for sex is very clear: one man and one woman united in marriage. In Genesis, Adam and Eve are told to be fruitful and increase in number. If you read the Scriptures, you'll see examples of a man and his wife who come together and have sex, and it's beautiful. There's also examples of people having sex outside of their marriages, and it almost destroys their lives and their families. (Abraham with Hagar, David and Bathsheba, etc.)

Adultery is having sex with someone you are not married to , and also has a close definition to fornication . There are MANY scriptures that say that adultery is a sin .


Matt 5:27-28
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

Heb 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

I personally do not want to be with someone who has been with any and everyone. I want a clean man, not sloppy 2nds.

It does not say it anywhere in the Bible that you can't have premarital sex. However, God asks you to keep your body pure from sexual immorality. Sex is a gift of God to married couple.

The new testement actually encourages not having sex at all. The old testement does not technicly forbid premarital sex but Jewish sages have forbid premarital sex so women would not be accused of being whores.
