Christening- is traditionally for babies, accepting them into the church and one day into heaven. There is nothing in the Bible that even resembles Christening. It is a tradition that promotes a false belief.
They sprinkle holy water on the baby's head.
Baptism is found in the Bible and is a total emerson in water. I believe it is for those who have been saved (accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior) and is a picture of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

Baptism is the signal that anybody belongs to Christ. That is why baptism is mostly referred to as CHRISTening. Among Christians, there are 2 exclusive reviews approximately who will have to be baptised. Some Christians suppose humans will have to simplest be baptised whilst they're historic sufficient to realize what they're doing and make the alternative to comply with Jesus for themselves. Other Christians believe that it's proper to baptise youngsters of Christian moms and dads. They might say that it's not proper to exclude infants and really babies from being within the Christian loved ones simply due to the fact that they can not but realize what is going on. In a few church buildings, infants, youngsters and adults can also be baptised. Although a little one are not able to make a decision to comply with Christ for themselves, in a few church buildings a baptism indicates that the baby is integrated as a member of the church loved ones. When a baby is baptised the loved ones and church contributors appear ahead to the day whilst the guarantees made on behalf of the little one turn out to be in my opinion truly for the baby.

Christening usually applies to infants. It cleanses them of original sin (as I understand it.) Baptism is where a person, by choice, allows themselves to be immersed into Jesus ' blood for the remission of sin. It is the last step in their search for salvation and their first step in life as a Christian. I don't believe christening is necessary because infants do not sin and are holy (or set apart) until they reach the age where they know the difference between right and wrong. But, I guess it is a nice service and might help parents devote themselves to raising the child in a Christian home.

They are euivolent but some affiliations don't use the word christening at all. The word baptism atrributes the process to John The Baptist who babtised Jesus, where christening would refference baptism like Christ. No no difference when it comes down to it.

Same thing when used for infants or little children but I have never heard christening used for the baptism of adults or teens.
