Karma is a Universal Law that guarantees what comes around, goes around. Not unlike Newton's law of action/reaction.

Karma theory is like what actions you do be it good or bad , you are to get it sooner or later. Karmas keep on adding or deleting as you do actions during your lifetime. I compare this as having bank account in the bank.
Our karmas are deposited in the God's records.
If not in this birth we get justice then we have next birth.
This alone explains why some are more lucky even if they do nothing while some struggle hard still it is of no use.
Some are born with lovely features or natures etc.
Some are born with defects or develop later.
There is a good book Iam reading nowdays - Reincarnation which I bought from ISKCON temple.
In the end of the chapters there are steps on how to improve your karmas or end your countless births and deaths.

When a soul deviates from its real nature, of being a part and tries to dominate as whole, with this first deviation the Karma starts.
Because when a limited entity starts to dominate, it off course limits everything else, i mean everything life ( thats why we have death ).
when we accept that we are part, and the whole is Lord, who is the real owner, than we live under the infinity's capability ( freedom for everything , form karma ----- ones karma ends )0.
From this star to end, its usually a cyclic process of karma, being generated form your previous karma, and increasing and decreasing accordingly with your every act. The sacrifices you do reduces karma, when done truly. So actually sacrifice is not done for making god happy or something, but for your own ultimate good.
I have tried to put it in very simple words, though it is a very complex and highly scientific process.

Karma or the spiritual law of cause and effect, action and reaction, justice, retribution, and reward, applies to the lower worlds. This law ensures that everything requires payment in the true coin. It purifies people by holding them responsible for their thoughts and deeds, both to themselves and others.
The first karma or primal karma is that which was not earned by the individual Soul. It was established by he Lords of Karma in the beginning of Soul's journey in the lower worlds. This invariably makes the individual create more karma, and so the need to reincarnate (another spiritual law that goes with the law of karma) to resolve the karma created arises.

karma is a non sense, karma is there only to confuse peoples.
when they could not explain why some peoples die then they
brought up karma there because we can not prove weather
previous life exists or does not exists.
