Unfortunately I believe that at least 80% of all Americans could care less as to what is happening around the rest of the world. As long as their personally not inconvienanced. It is sad.

Only if they haven't read the Bible!!! What is happening in the World, is Directly Spoken of in the Scriptures, Bearing Witness to their Divine Inspiration & Flawless Truths!!! So Like tell Us now how is it that Atheists, (Who Don't Believe in God or His Holy Scriptures) In Ur Humble Opinion, (I'm Sure) have a Better Understand of World Events??? I am a Christian and I listen to talk radio a lot to keep up with world events, as well as getting information from the computer. I don't listen much to newscasts from the broadcast system, or read the papers all that much for the same reason--they are so communistic in their reporting (and America haters). Happy trails.

I am an American Christian and I keep up with the World and its happenings. I pray for the World every day. I trust that My God knows what is going on and that everything happens for a reason. Who knows? This could be the beginning of the end. My belief tells me that things that are happenning today in the world, are preludes to the Second Coming. I'm an American Christian and very aware of what his happening in the world and I don't support our leaders in government. I especially do not like the decisions they make based on Christian beliefs because they don't speak for all Christians and I don't believe any of them to be "true" Chrisitans who follow Christ's teachings because their actions prove the opposite.

Are American atheists ignorant to what is really happening in the universe?
One example: Since the 1940's it's documented that the speed of light is slowing down exponentially. What do You think is happening? What do You expect?

I think so... I get nasty chain emails from christian acquantances who think we're at war in Iraq bacause of 9/11... they have no idea those men were saudis (mostly) or what the US has done to engender so much hatred in the world...

I was going to say no until I read some of the answers. One answer in particular.
If you don't understand science you can be preyed upon by almost any charlatan simply because you are unable to evaluate a claim they make.
and creationinsm is inherently dishonest and preys upon ignorance.

A counter to your question. What has anybody on Yahoo answers done personally around the world to make it better. In a real and defineable sense. Regardless of Nationality or creed.
Being knowledgeable is groovy. What good is it without action.

it's NOT just american christians, it everyone in religion that's ignorant to the Truth;
Here's the simply Solution for religion:
Eliminate religion from Your Life, A.S.A.P.;
Freedom of religion is Freedom FROM religion; religion is Spiritual fraud;
Universal Truth eliminated religion from Spirituality a long time ago;
Accomplish this:
Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save Your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs and start Your journey back home, to Heaven.
