Sweeden is a country that is very amiable to atheism. Better than half its population is atheist and the country is a well known as a smooth running, civil and peaceful society.

Do you think there more atheists in the closets of other western countries than there are on the main stage of outspoken society?

No doubt there are a lot more atheists than one imagines. It's safer to pretend to be religious. And essential if one wishes to be politically viable. But that is changing.

There is no way to ascertain which video when following that link. Yes, I do think there are more atheists in the closet. In America atheist is a dirty word. Many people do not even think of god but when asked will say they are christian. Are they really? Can you be a christian with out thinking about god. I also think that many many people are actually Deists but not many people know what that is. They believe there is a god, but have no religious view. I believe many of these people are but down as Christians as well. There will never be an "outing" of atheists. There will always be those of us who have no belief.

I hope so. I strongly encourage all atheists, agnostics, pagans, wiccans and other non-traditionals to be openly proud about their beliefs or lack thereof. History has shown that the more exposure people have to that which is different, the more accepting they are; and the contrary has also been shown to be true.
