I'm afraid you'll have to continue at the vets.
Diarrhoea can have many, many causes. What tests has the vet run to determine the cause? It can be hard - I have a friend whose cats have had diarrhoea for ages, and it isn't a virus, or worms, or a bacterial infection. They're now investigating the possibility of it being irritable bowel syndrome. What I'm saying is, given the number of possible causes for diarrhoea, it can take a while to narrow down and yes of course, time is money.
I'm sure people will come on saying 'my dog has diarrhoea and it was this' but that's not especially helpful to your particular situation I'm afraid. An vaguely decent vet will be aware of the all the possible avenues for exploration and will not need to be told about them.

Firstly, keep a constant eye on your dog. Is it eating/drinking anything it shouldn't?
My friend and I both have terriers, my friends being a Staffi. After discovering digestive probs immediately after getting her, he was told by the vet that Staffs tend to have probs in this area generally. It could be stress related also. Good advice about the plain food and fasting for a short while. Thats what the vet told my friend. Also try a change in its dog food. Go for a good quality one at a reasonable price. It doesn't have to cost a fortune.
Be careful about what human food you mix in with it or give your dog. Many can be poisonous to dogs in sufficient quantities. There are lots of good websites about what is poisonous to dogs. Hope this helps.

Hello
it sounds like your dog has a high case of coccidiosis, giardiosis or parvovirus.
This cannot be cured by itself , when your pup is that sick he will dehydrate very fast , this can be very dangerous , go buy some pedealite at your pharmacy. Give him by syringe every 2 hours , give him about 10cc. Also he will need his blood sugar to go back up , so give him corn syrup, rub it on his gums. Don't let your dog get depressed by himself , show him you love him but not that you are worried , they can feel that .
You should go back to your vet with a stool sample , just put poop in a zip lock bag and bring it to your vet. Tell your vet to analyze it , this should take a couple of hours , tell him to absolutely check for parvovirus. Your dog needs antibiotics , please dont keep him sick like this as he will get weaker and weaker as the days pass and it could end up being deadly.
I'm sory hope this helped , Mary

The best thing to do is not feed her for a few days just so the stomach can get back to normal again. Then try feeding her chicken/fish and rise for a few days. This is light and bland so it shouldn't irritate the stomach. Another thing you could do is give the dog raw eggs, this binds the stomach and should help. As soon as you see it getting better than gradually put her own dog food back in to the mix. Eventually you should be able to get her back on to her own dog food properly. Good luck.

Hi, I would suggest you take your pet off its current food, and wean onto a sensitive formula, as some dogs have a sensitive digestive system. If the poor thing has suffered for so long, it is also possible it needs antibiotics as the gut may be infected. Starve her for 24 hours giving just water, and gently introduce food again, but only bits at a time and build up the amount daily. Also, be sure not to overfeed. Have you wormed her??? Hope she is better soon, our pets are such a worry cos they cant communicate the problem, it is down to us as owners to sort them out.............good luck!!

here are some good ways to help, this all comes directly from a homeopathic vet ..
http://www.veterinarysecretsrevealed.com
For Vomiting:
FASTING TIME. A 24 hour fast is the most important thing you can do to allow your pet's inflamed stomach to heal. Allow access to controlled amounts of water, but no food. After 24 hours offer bland food such as plain cooked white rice; give equivalent amounts of rice as you do dog or cat food. After 48 hours mix their regular food with rice and don't fully go to regular food until after 72 hours.
A CUP OF TEA. Peppermint Tea is an old remedy used for upset stomachs in people. Brew up a strong cup of tea, but allow it to cool before offering it.
HOMEOPATHIC. Nux vomica is an effective homeopathic remedy for vomiting for pets. You melissa will find the dose in my book at www.veterinarysecretsrevealed.com/vsr.php
For Diarrhea:
FIRM IT WITH FIBER. Dietary fiber absorbs water in the intestine, which helps to decrease diarrhea. Ground flax is a great source for dogs (1tsp/cup of dog food). Canned pumpkin is a great source for your cat (1tsp/day).
PROBIOTICS. Restore the natural bacteria in the intestine, to help the intestinal immune system. The most effective supplement is Lactobacillus acidophilus.
HUMAN REMEDIES. Pepto Bismol is an old standby that can be effective for dogs. Immodium (Loperamide) is the only safe over-the-counter anti-diarrhea drug for cats.

If the vet didn't find a good reason, it's probably something your dog is eating. Did they take a stool sample, it could be worms. I've given my dogs Immodium in a small dose to stop it, and it worked.

has she had her shots ?? has she been wormed ??
If you have a pet you should be answering yes to these questions.
you need to take the dog to the vet and get those things done preventive care is cheaper than trying to fix an illness!!!!
When I worked at a kennel I saw so many animals suffer because they didnt recieve the proper care and immunizations.
