Sorry to rain on the idea, but I think if you don't know what you want, you are not completely ready for a tattoo. For me each tattoo symbolizes something important to me. Each tattoo took a minimum of 6 months to decide why I would get that tattoo and where. I know I take a while, but it took me almost 2 years to decide on the first one. Read up on the subject, talk to an artist or two or a dozen, review artist portfolios.
When you decide on getting the tattoo, just remember to put it some place that it can be easily hidden, whether that means you wear socks while teaching to hide an ankle tattoo or putting it somewhere else that would be hidden by your clothing while teaching. My favorite thing about having tattoo's that are hidden while on the job, is seeing people I work with off the job and them seeing my tattoo's and realizing I just smashed the stereotype of people with tattoo's.

Good luck.

If you want something with meaning, you can visit a tattoo shop and meet with an artist. Tell them that you are looking for something small, tell them where you want it, and then give them some ideas of items that you like. Then tell them to be creative.
You will pay an artists deposit for this. If you don't get the tattoo, they keep the deposit as payment for their design. Sometimes they'll take a day, sometimes a week to draw it up. It just depends on the person.

You can also go in and look at tattoo flash books (books of already created tattoos). There are tons of websites on-line to look through too! You can always take them a picture of something you find and get it done!

Just a word of caution. I noticed someone said put it on your stomach. It's a great place, but if you ever have kids it could stretch! Two of my friends have tattoos on their stomaches. One around the belly button the other around the appendix area. Both had kids and now they are distorted! This doesn't happen to everyone, but it is possible. Personally, so far mine are on my back, but I am getting my next on my hip.
Looking at me, you would never know that I have any at all.

it only has meaning if it means something to you. don't get anything unless you see it and KNOW it is right for you. until then, keep looking. a tattoo should represent you. something about you that will always be you. not something transitory. As for location...a good place for a woman (from a man's perspective, is inside the bikini line. When the time comes that you let us in there, it is sexy to find something a little surprisingly naughty! Also, the only ones who will ever know about it are the girls at your gym and the guys you are intimate with.

I noticed that someone said "shoulder"...please don't do that. The day will come when you want to dress up very elegant and that will mean a shoulderless or backless gown and then there it is, right in everyone's face. I have seen this many times at formal events, a woman is dressed like WOW and then she turns around and uh-oh, the look is destroyed.

A tattoo is highly personal, and should have significance to you alone, not just a pretty picture you pick out of a book. Maybe a pretty picture out of book turns out to be exactly what you want, and that's okay, but don't expect to pick a tattoo by what someone else likes. If you are not sure what you want, then don't get anything yet. Wait until it means something to you. It will be with you forever, please let it stand for a love, a loss, a success that is personally yours.

I work in business so I understand the want to have a tattoo but to not have it highly visible. I have one on my lower back. I would suggest maybe your lower back, your hip, thigh, or even on your shoulder or back, someplace that it's going to be easy for you to cover up while your at work. There are a lot of websites if you go to yahoo or Google and search for tattoo designs. There are usually pictures of other peoples tattoos and maybe that will help inspire what you want. Your right in wanting to find something with meaning because I've seen so many people get tattoos just to get tattoos and then they regret what they got later. Think about milestones in your life or events that have happened to you or something that might hold special meaning for you.

a heart or flower would be a good small tattoo. as far as location goes, to hide it from view, shoulder, back, waist, stomach. also your favorite cartoon character, pet, religious symbol. just think long and hard. easy to get put on, very hard and expensive to remove

well, they are kind of the same as butterflies, but i personally really like fairies!
if i was you, i would put the tattoo on my stomache beside my belly button or on my back where the shoulder is!
but dont take this personally, but what is the point of getting a tattoo if no one sees it?
and i really want to get a tattoo of a spade, clover or a heart on my wrist...i really like barcodes there too.
