The Roosevelt Hotel. 45th and Madison. I'm staying there in August. I think I got a good deal on Priceline for that hotel

The Courtyard by Marriott upper east side is running $230 per night, and since at least half of what you want to see is in lower Manhattan I'm not sure I would use the term "close".
However the Hotel 41 is in Times Square, right in the middle of everything and only running $190 per night. It's a top boutique hotel and travel magazine Conte Nast called it an "amazing find" for the city....this is why travel agents are not always the best source of information regardless of what they claim.

Milford Plaza on 45th. The Hotel Edison is also pretty cute, but it's on the older side. The coolest hotel is the Marriott Marquis, but it's very expensive!

I think there is one on E92 Street and York Avenue.Other than that, coming out of Times Square, there is the New York MArriot Marque, but that is very expensive!

Try these - Skyline Hotel at 10th and 49th - bigger rooms, still very convenient.
Portland Square Hotel - small, clean, jst 2 blocks to Times Square and steps to 5th Avenue.
Wellington often offers packages that can be great deals as well!
Enjoy!

We stayed on the Salisbury inn on 57th st in large apple. It replaced into mind-blowing! top around the line from Carnegie corridor and approximately 6 blocks from situations sq. and Rockefeller middle. they're very friendly, even however the rooms are a splash run down, its thoroughly truly incredibly worth the region. It cost approximately $a hundred thirty five a evening. i % to propose it!
