I can assure you the folks answering here that you need perfect vision, don' t know what they're talking about. Simply put, there are minimum requirements that must be met including vision levels. Although no longer really looked at, good arches on your feet will help. Your best chance at flying those jets listed would be through the AF academy if you can get nominated. Also keep in mind that there is no guarantee of a pilot slot for you...regardless of performance or qualifications. Point in fact, if you get a slot and go to UPT, you don't even find out what you get to fly until your just about done with that. You NEED to talk to a recruiter! If you go to a regular college, get your pilots license while there and build up experience. You could always move to Virginia and join the Air National Guard...they're flying the F-22 now.

The AF academy has a large percentage of pilot grads, but no you do not. I would just try and get into AF ROTC and the flying program while you are in college. My father was a Fighter Pilot and he did not go to the AF Academy, but he did go through ROTC and that is how he got his slot.
About all the vision stuff on here, you can now get Lasyk and as long as it was corrected to 20/20 be a pilot in the AF, it was on the Air Force times 2 weeks ago.

Perfect eyesight is one requirement. If you ain't got that, you can pretty much forget it. Also, some studies were done of the best fighter pilots and it turns out that many of the best are right-brained, meaning they are artistic more so than others. So if you have NO artistic talent, you may not have what it takes from the git-go, either. So, judge from those two things, eyesight and artistic ability, and if you fail either or both, you'll probably never make it. Wish you luck!

My son is becoming a fighter pilot. There are easier ways to do this than the route that he had to go through to do it though. Get a college education, talk to your recruiters in the airforce or navy and maybe they will pay for the education and just do it. My son went in as an enlisted man. He took all of the difficult assignments that he could, went to all of the places that no one else wanted to go to and networked. He ended up as a Mustang in the Navy. He was put through tons of school and it was all paid for. He is now an officer and will be a fighter pilot. Just talk to your recruiter but remember that they are "salemen" in a way.

For starters, perfect vision, as does your weight for your height, and your attitude needs to be workable. If you have less than perfect vision, they will always allow you to ride in the back, but probably not a fighter (F-) jet.
Bombing innocents is a bonus (try thinking of this as sarcastic humor).

First, if you don't have uncorrected 20-20 vision or better, it will never happen.
Second, talk to the Air Force recruiter.
