You can't. You can make the choice yourself not to drink, but you cannot make this choice for anyone else. Nobody can help an addict, an addict has to want to help himself (usually by hitting rock bottom first).
Think about your relationship and decide whether you should support him, but make sure to put yourself first. He is your boyfriend, not your husband. If he is draining you and bumming you out over his alcoholism....you should move on before he drags you down. If you want him to quit, and he does not want to....it will never work anyway.
Also keep in mind that if YOU drink, you can't be running around telling him not to because that isn't fair and quite hypocritical. Both quitting together could be a supportive decision if this is the case.

First you asked him that whether he is loves you, or not ? If he loves you too much then you tell him the bad effect of consuming alcohol. If he stopped, then O. K. Neither don't meet with him in future. What I suggest you, explain him in details, then you will get some good result & both of you will be happy.

hon, u can not stop any one from doing anything unless they want tooo... unless u have him locked up.... does he want to? then educate him, get cd's, books, movies, take him to AA or lectures,... You could be saving his life, your life, or someone else.. good luck, if he doesn't then u are not responsible for his actions, and u need to stay away and not be involved at what happens down the road..

Tell him you will leave him!
You can't stop him, as such, but you can show him that his actions have consequences - not just for his health, but for his relationship!
Tough love is best.
My mom told my dad she wouldn't marry him unless he quit smoking, so he did...and the rest is history. LOL

Refuse to be around him when he is drunk. Refuse to be associated with drinking activities. If he is only drinking a little and that bothers you...find another boyfriend...one that doesnt drink like you.

Have a talk, warn him that is a powerful drug. It will alter his state of mind and probably make him obnoxious, and in time will damage his liver.
