It won't do them any harm but why would you want to? If you are feeding a good quality Food there shouldn't be any need for giving a dog cereal. It will get all the nutrients it needs in its diet from the food.

Some breeders give their puppies weetabix for their first meal of the day I know but I don't agree with giving dogs cow's milk as this can result in diarrhoea, as I have found out over the many years I have bred dogs Nowadays most people feed an 'all in one' kibble which is specially formulated to make sure a dog is getting everything it needs to keep him healthy.

In general, dog food is better than human food with the exception of meat and fish. Meat, of course, is dog food. But good-quality commercially prepared dog food is formulated to provide what nutrition the dog needs for a healthy diet. The occassional, small sugar or cereal snack won't harm the dog, but too much of something weird can easily cause vomiting or diarrhea. NOTE: a chicken bone can kill a dog. The long bones splinter lengthways into sharp shards; if a dog happens to swallow one the wrong way it can catch in the throat and cause severe injury or even death. Many dogs have died that way. The soft bones and the knuckles are not a problem: I lop off the ends of the leg and wing bones and feed them to our dog, and throw away the hard middle part. Hard bones are not a problem; it's that the hollow bones birds splinter. Final hint: if you want a dog to beg for food under the table when you eat, then feed from the table. If you want to train the dog not to do that, then never feed from your hand -- always put whatever food into the dog dish.

You should not disrupt your dog's diet by giving them human food but once in a blue moon should not be an issue. I caught my husband feeding mini wheats to our Lab the other day. I wasn't happy but then again when I make salad I toss her some pieces of tomato. I have noticed in the Rachel Ray magazine she has recipes for making food for dogs like mac and cheese or something. I once had a Pekinese that stopped eating her dog food. I found out later my grandmother was feeding him the leftovers. She felt if the food was good enough for us then the dog could eat it too. I don't agree but to be 100% sure ask your vet.

Not really. It's not that cereal will poison him or anything (although it's not really helpful for his health) it's just that feeding human food to a dog is a bad habit to get into. They come to expect it, and then they start to get fussy about their dog food and, depending on what other human food you're feeding, the dog will get pretty fat! Especially if he's a labrador or a cavalier!

Stick with dog food and dog treats, don't start using your food as treat food - bad cycle to get in to.

First that depends on the food and second it shouldn't be all the time unless you are planning on finding healthy food and feeding them a homemade diet or something but then you have to balance the nutrition.
I sometimes feed my dog plain cheerios he loves them and I only give him a hand full or so. I would suggest that you don't feed the dog highly sweetened cereals

It depends on the cereal. Most contain too much sugar and salt. I do recommend an entire homemade dog food diet. I'm the author of the book
Woofing it Down.
if you make your own dog food, you will see a big difference in your dogs health.

It is as a treat. You still need to feed him dog food. Human food is for humans while dog food is for dogs.

Cereal is not good for dogs. Cereal is mostly grain, and grains are the number 1 cause of allergies in dogs. I wouldn't give the dog cereal if I were you. (grains are corn, wheat, rice, oats, etc...)

If he occassionally manages to snag a piece that falls on the floor, that is fine, but I wouldn't give it to him as treats or as a snack.

Good luck.
