Who made the first impression on you? Why did they leave an impression.

The very first person I ever contacted here was Captain Atheism. He was also my first friend on 360. Selnyk was close behind. I had never met or spoken to an atheist and I was fascinated to know more about them as people.

Who was it for you?

I there were a few...
Pangel, You of course, Jim Darwin, Jibba Jabba, Delivs Advocate, Katy, Delphic Oracle...there are so many. I would have to look at the "Last Supper" picture to remember them all.
Do you remember that picture? Too funny!!!

You are the first person I added as a contact, and Bettierage and Dog Sneeze (haven't seen him around for a couple of weeks), Glitter Kitty and Sunman round out the first five. I remember there was a lot of (((virtual hugging))) going on at the time, seemed Kallan was usually involved, and the drinking game was in full force.

A couple of impressions: subtle sarcasm is an effective way to make a point here, as is a direct statement of ones views.

Pangel, maybe a month after I started here (under a different account, but the same name).

I had replied to a probing question with a brutally self-honest (and painful) answer, and she emailed me words of comfort, acceptance, and empathy.

She's one of the reasons I stayed as long as I did before I took my vacation from this place, and one of the reasons (along with Don H, who doesn't have a 360 page), and a few others whom I miss, that I have come back here at all.

I came in August 2006 - one month after Canada Yahoo!Answers came online.
I enjoyed just answering questions from all categories for a couple weeks, and then I began to notice two avatars.... an orangatan and a stained glass mosaic of Jesus with a computer in front of it.
Then I noticed there was a "relgion and spirituality" section.... I didn't notice it before cause I never thought to read the category titles when I answered questions or posted.

Anyway Uncle Wayne and Laptop were the 1st persons I noticed and I liked their questions and responses. Sometimes they got me a tad riled too... LOL
I also noticed Jim Darwin, Godzilla, Bad Squirrel and Kait....
next thing I knew, I was hooked in here and I hope everyone is enjoying my contribution.
Thanks to everyone for a great ride.

blessings to all :)

I would probably say that Kallan made the first and lasting impression on me. She is intelligent without acting all superior about it. I was sooo lost when I started getting messages from users tho I had no clue what I was supposed to do. LOL
also I was using my real name in here and my boss suggested that I pick a nickname especially if I was going to visit the site during work hours LOL

Yeah, when I first came here I got a kick out of Godzilla and Laptop Jesus and the questions they posted. It was a long time though before I talked to them. I just admired them from a distance. Now I consider them my friends. :)

Ah, but the first person on here I ever exchanged e-mails with was Acid Zebra. I was very surprised that someone I didn't know (at the time) would up and send me an e-mail telling me how much they enjoyed my answers and wished I'd post questions too. :D

There were a lot of people who stood out. Gandalf, Grim Jack, Laptop Jesus, I walk funny, Godzilla, The Dude, vinslave, Markyyy, bettierage, Deke, Neo, marc p, ShoNuff, yourself!...my goodness, I could go on forever. I felt I had found a place where I could be myself. I live in the bible belt, and it's not easy to be me out in the open as an atheist. I saw these people posting their thoughts, and a lot of them paralleled my own. And even those who weren't atheists were open about their own beliefs, like Kallan and pangel. I'm sure they don't realize how much of an impact they all had on me...to finally find people who didn't think I was insane or weird for not believing in god (they may think I'm insane or weird for other reasons though LOL). I have never properly thanked those who stood out to me at first. Thanks for the opportunity to do so!

There are many many people who I appreciate here. I have a lot of them on my contacts list. They are not all atheists. In fact, I appreciate a lot of the christians here as well. If I could, I'd name everyone in the forum as attributing to keeping me here. So all of you are to blame for my staying around. Shame on you guys! lol

I came here over a year ago. The first person I interacted with was a Pagan by the name of )O(Sunshine)O(. She doesn't come around here much anymore. But long story short, I answered one of her questions, and she thought I was starting a fight with her when I wasn't. This was before the advent of the email feature, so in order to talk to her to straighten it out, I left my IM ID, and from there and great friendship was born. I've learned a lot from her.

The Geisha Christ has been known by many name in the past, originating in early to mid 2006. At first, Geisha Christ try to give helpful, thoughtful answers, with nothing but good intentions. After many attacks from xtians, that has changed. It is clear they deserve only pity and ridicule. The first name change came early in the first incarnation of Geisha Christ. An evil one known by the moniker "sparklebutt" (aka Sparklebutterfly), along with her adoring minions of fellow xtians, managed to get my account suspended. It was following my resurrection (in the form of a new account) that I realized I was immortal. Over time, my true destiny of Geisha Christ was realized. I will now play a song of remembrance on my shamisen to commemorate this nostalgic look backwards.

Wow...there was The Dude, Cosmic Drifter, Sunman, Happykid, and of course you, Gorgeous.

What made an impression? I don't know. I have a great respect for individuality, and you all stuck out as unique. Maybe you're just a bunch of stoners like me...who knows?
