Do you prefer traditional music with an organ and/or piano and maybe a choir! Or do you like the new music with guitars and such? Whichever you prefer, tell my why. As for me, I like the traditional music! Why? I was trained in piano and in classical/sacred style. It is the way to go for me.

I like some traditional music, I have my favorites..But when I get down I like something that is uplifting and full of joy something I can let loose in and just sing and dance in the Spirit type music. Peace

I prefer the more modern music. It's more up-beat. Churches need to adapt for a changing society. I still think more traditional services should be held for those that prefer ... but hold them earlier in the morning - like 1st service. If' I'm out most or all of the night Saturday night ... I do NOT want to get up at 6 am to go to church. The pentecostal church I moved to - they hold a 60 minute traditional service at 8:30 am and the other 3 services (10 am, noon and 6 pm) are more contemporary and are usually packed.

We have a church locally that actually offers 2 different services. A traditional early service, with the organ and such, and a contemporary later service, with the modern music. It is becoming more popular all the time. I am no longer christian, but I was brought up VERY tradtionally, my wife however likes the newer style. To each his own to gain the same ends.

I too love traditional classical music in church services. And also when meditating on the Word.
But, I enjoy some of the contemporary music, as well, and value it as a way to connect with the younger generation

I prefer a mix of the more traditional styles of music mixed with some upbeat and "modern." Congregations are a wider mix of ages and even beliefs now, still Christian but more varied backgrounds, and everyone needs to feel comfortable and a part of the whole experience.

When it was said to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, no one style, method or instrument was indicated; so all are accepted.

Have a blessed day.

I like both traditional and contemporary.

Shhhh, please don't tell anyone in my church, but I really don't care to try to sing with the enormous pipe organ that our old folks adore. The organist plays waaaaay too slow for me.

My church has every kind of music in our worship services. Organ, piano, electric guitar, accoustic guitar, flute, and harmonica just today. Lots of other instruments at various times. It's a tiny church but everyone (except me) is musically gifted. I mean truly gifted.

I have often heard people go on rants about the music in various churches and how much they didn't like it. What music do I want in worship? It truly doesn't matter. Worship isn't about me and what I want. We aren't there to make me happy. We aren't worshiping Judy. We are there to worship God. What music does HE want? I think He is honored by anyone who wants to make music for HIM --and the style doesn't matter to Him anymore than the type of painting my 7 year old makes matters to me. It truly is the thought that counts here. We have come to that understanding in my church and all styles of Christian music are welcome. So what if it isn't your own personal cup of tea? The gift is for God.

I try to go to church prepared to worship in a variety of ways including to music I may not like. I don't really like what I call the U2 clone worship music (if you hear guitars, that's probably what you're hearing), because I never liked U2 to begin with. I definitely prefer traditional hymns to that stuff. My favorite was the stuff the post jesus-people 80s stuff that was heavily hebraic sounding. But like I said, I try to worship to anything.

I like the traditional too - with or without the instruments. Today, a lot of gospel is being created and enjoyed simply because it sounds good. It's like most of movies being created today - all effects and no real substance. A lot of people who listen to it today just like to create a lot of "hot tracks" and beats melodies that sound good. Not all are like that but MANY. Who are they praising? The Lord or the music?

And let me just say for the record: Jimithy (TM), You're RIGHT. It's sad but that's the way it is.

I like traditional music.

The Old Hyms are always best. I also like Southern Gospel, Country Gospel (Not necessarily in church) and blue grass.

I do not like Christian Rock, I heard a story of a missionary who was in a country were there was a lot of voodoo. He had a lot of converts who used to practice voodoo and the occult. They heard the Christian rock and told the missionary about the beat in the music. They said it was the same beat they used to call up demonic spirits. The beat to that music can be traced back to the ancient Druids.

You can keep the brass out of it. Too noisy. Guitars are O.K. but non-amplified. I guess traditional music is what I prefer in church but I listen to all types at home.
