Okay, my niece is turning two. My sister said she likes Elmo and she likes videos that have a lot of music and short sketches (not a longer video with an actual plot).

I got this video at Target, and I'm trying to decide if the age is right. What do you think?

I also got her a book and puzzle.

Thanks. I have no idea why, but I cannot remember what my kids liked at that age (and it was only two - four years ago!)

My son would LOVE that... but he is only 8 months old. I couldn't find any indication on an age range. I think the term "crawl" on there is what would make me hesitate just a little bit... but my instinct would say a 2 yera old will still love it. I found this other one that said up to three years old, seems to be part of the same series... http://www.amazon.com/Sesame-Beginnings-Exploring-Matt-Lauer/dp/B000H6SY8M/ref=pd_sim_d_1/102-0239333-9594569

This video is developmentally appropriate for 2 to 4 year old children, so you made a good choice. Our 3 1/2 year old likes any short video and has for the last almost two years. You've also chosen a book and a puzzle, which require the child's and in the case of the book adult/child interaction. You made all around good choices and I'm sure your niece will enjoy all.

That just might do the trick. Another option would be the Baby Einstein dvds. They are filled with music and have "short sketches" of the topic covered in the movie. All three of my kids loved them......and still do and they are 7, 4, and 3.

I think you made a fantastic choice! Not only will it be visually entertaining for a 2 year old, its great that it has music and singing and even better than that it gives the rest of the family a chance to join in!

I for one am impressed with your choice Iim sure that your niece will be too! An Aunt that buys 3 gifts, what more could a little girl ask for!

Keep up the good work!

:))

Your niece is TWO...you're spending too much time on this. Of course she'll love the elmo or sesame street thing. Buy it along with the book and puzzle and you're going to be the star of the party!

I think its perfect. My son is 19 months old and loves videos. The Backyardigans are also great... they dance and sing thru out the short sketches. My little guy is also very into books... She will love whatever she gets... after all, she's 2.... lol

Great gift. At 2 my son loved Elmo so much too. You are a great Aunt for caring so much about your niece liking her gift.

Well I'd say it is a bit old but I don't know the programme exactly. This U.K. one is similar I believe and is aimed at three to fives -

But I don't know about videos.

Anyway she will like the book and puzzle and the video will keep (unless she chews it up!).
Best wishes - and happy birthday to her,
Joan.

Edit - Well now I read that your video is aimed at a younger age group so that is fine (along with the book and puzzle too though!).
