Yes, you do have to have completed High School to get into LPN school. Have you thought about getting a GED (graduate equivalency diploma)? I urge you to do so and then pursue a career as a LPN. Stay with your dream!!! I went to LPN school after graduating High School. That was 40 years ago! I can't get over how a decision I made at age 17 gave me such a wonderfully rewarding job. I love what I do and the pay is very good! I wish you the best of luck!

To be an LPN you have to pass a state test - you'd most likely have to have had specialized LPN training. There are other hospital jobs, like nurses aide or housekeeping, where you might not need a diploma. But see if you can either go back and finish school, or get your GED - not having a high school diploma will hold you back throughout your life otherwise - and will have a hard time finding a job where you can make decent money, not minimum wage.

Good luck.

take at least the GED if you don't want to go back high school and finish it. Then there's pre-reqs for LPN. You can do CNA first then LPN. Inquire in your local community about adult education for CNA classes. Good Luck!

Since the classes are more difficult than high school, it would seem obvious that you have to be a high school graduate. Would you want someone responsible for your care that may be illiterate? Can't do simple math?

A G.E.D. will be OK too. as long as you have one or the other they should be fine with it, the best thing to do is to contact the college you are wanting to attend and go from there. Best of luck!
