I don't regard myself as religious or an atheist. Everyone should have the right to their own beliefs, and live however they choose. Why is it so important to preach, encourage and influence others. We are all intelligent enough to find our own morality and ethical standards (with the odd exceptions). Religion seems to have an excuse to bully, shouldn't we accept that we are all different and don't have to think in exactly the same way... silence is golden??!!

Religion is personal, but the nature of a public forum involves the exchange of ideas. Making ideas known may loosely be regarding as 'preaching' and I am certainly sure that being overly ebullient qualifies as 'being preachy' ...

If I were not for the exchange of ideas, making mine known -- trying to understand those of others I would not be here at all.

Assertiveness can not be solely the attribute of 'the bully and accepting our many differences is fine and dandy -- but silence in the presence of blasphemy is surely of no value and we naturally exude the life that we live.

We can disagree without doing so disagreeably. Dissent is normal and necessary. How you play the game differentiates between 'the exchange of ideas' and the opportunistic bottom feeder out to twist and mangle a person's religious beliefs.

When all a person can contribute is a steady stream of profane miscreant morbidity rather than some semblance of enlightenment it is appropriate to take them to task.

When a person has a differing opinion and makes that known in an aire of tact it merits consideration by all.

You are correct we do not have to think the same way; but how you state your beliefs in the context of a public forum is something which deserves consideration.

As the Hebrews say, "nizkor' -- we will remember. Some of the most profound tragedies enacted upon the world took hold because too many were silent too long.

We are a social animal. Part of our survival instincts is to bond with each other. Therefore, it is comforting to have people about who are like us in our beliefs.

But, we can find that WITHOUT having to convert others! By the way, not all religions actively seek to convert people.

Are we? We seek solace in conformity. So you have birds of a feather flocking together.

And you better believe what the majority says to be the true essence of god , or else...

for people/society/colture to grow..
the first has to be HUMKBLE. to accept HONEST
statement.
like a drunk..who is proven to be one..might/will say..i'm not a drunk...till he ready to be HONEST with himself..he is not a ready listener. right?
SO pastors/teachers ect of that ranking.
need to do the same thing.
joyce meyer.and many likes of here..express they human nature and failure. it was funny of how we human act or reacts...and from thee..we learn..of thta humble teacher/preacher of HOW..we see ourselves..and learn from the spiritual or human wisdom from them.
and do better.
to resist the worst side of human nature.
SO till then..we go as we go.
like scatter piles of leaves..everywhere.
when we UNITE..might shall we be.

SO till humility come forth..from within
we're ready to listen to correction.
pride is so unseen in us..or them.
it's truly blind us..and deafen our heart..to hear
or see..a way out of bondage of the wicked nature of the flesh/carnality of man.
that what great about being born again..IT's empower us..to see ourselve..for GOD created man..HE knows our weakness and our strength..and desire greatness..while on the other side..satan..desire our failure and worst..we do to each other. GOD is holy..and following his ways.AS JESUS siad..I am the door..the way and the life..FOLLOW ME.
