Because states like Texas are underwater lately. Because tornado's are more active than ever b4. Our Polar Bears are dying becuz they have no ice for homes & hunting. The climate changes are more radical than ever and some say there is no global warming yet the planet is melting. Whatever you call it we did it with carbon emmissions and garbage we send into the air that has collected over the years. It has broken thru natural barrier's that were in place millions of years. Since the Industrial Revolution we have wrecked what nature has protected. In just a few short 100 or so yrs.
To help out turn off lights, change your light bulbs. Read up on all the Green stuff u can find. Use less plastics, conserve water where u can. There is a ton of stuff I can't list them all. Cars someday but we don't have enough ethanyl anyway to support the demand. Make sure your exhaust system works properly. Just get involved. Like now. Ask as you have. You are on your way! Thank you so much.

Global Warming is overheating the earth. This is how it is caused: When fossil fuels are burned to produce everyday products or gases from our car exhaust and other things, the gases go into the air and into the atmosphere. The sun's heat gets traped in these gases and forms a "heat blanket" around the earth. The "big problem" about global warming is: because of it being SO HOT, the ice caps in the north and south poles are being melted. They might begin flooding the continents (but that won't happen for a while) because the sea levels are rising. Arctic animals are becoming endangered. But here are some ways you can help: RECYCLE (when we recycle, less fuels are needed for burning to make things.) Hybrid cars are good for the atmosphere. Walking to someplace instead of driving. Another thing: People cutting down the rain forrests are kiling the all the trees. Trees and plants take in carbon dioxide from the air and release oxygen. If trees are being removed, then less carbon dioxide is being removed from the atmosphere. And then we're back to that "heat blanket" around the earth. I hope I helped your undeerstanding of Global Warming and that it is NOT a good thing!

Alarmist Global Warming Claims Melt
Under Scientific Scrutiny ---
By James M. Taylor --- Chicago Sun-Times --- 30 June 07
In his new book, The Assault on Reason, Al Gore pleads, "We must stop
tolerating the rejection and distortion of science. We must insist on an end
to the cynical use of pseudo-studies known to be false for the purpose of
intentionally clouding the public's ability to discern the truth." Gore
repeatedly asks that science and reason displace cynical political posturing
as the central focus of public discourse.
If Gore really means what he writes, he has an opportunity to make a
difference by leading by example on the issue of global warming.
A cooperative and productive discussion of global warming must be open and
honest regarding the science. Global warming threats ought to be studied and
mitigated, and they should not be deliberately exaggerated as a means of
building support for a desired political position.
Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ''An Inconvenient Truth,''
have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them. Gore can
show sincerity in his plea for scientific honesty by publicly acknowledging
where science has rebutted his claims.
For example, Gore claims that Himalayan glaciers are shrinking and global
warming is to blame. Yet the September 2006 issue of the American
Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate reported, "Glaciers are growing
in the Himalayan Mountains, confounding global warming alarmists who
recently claimed the glaciers were shrinking and that global warming was to
blame."
Gore claims the snowcap atop Africa's Mt. Kilimanjaro is shrinking and that
global warming is to blame. Yet according to the November 23, 2003, issue of
Nature magazine, "Although it's tempting to blame the ice loss on global
warming, researchers think that deforestation of the mountain's foothills is
the more likely culprit. Without the forests' humidity, previously
moisture-laden winds blew dry. No longer replenished with water, the ice is
evaporating in the strong equatorial sunshine."
Gore claims global warming is causing more tornadoes. Yet the United Nations
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated in February that there has
been no scientific link established between global warming and tornadoes.
Gore claims global warming is causing more frequent and severe hurricanes.
However, hurricane expert Chris Landsea published a study on May 1
documenting that hurricane activity is no higher now than in decades past.
Hurricane expert William Gray reported just a few days earlier, on April 27,
that the number of major hurricanes making landfall on the U.S. Atlantic
coast has declined in the past 40 years. Hurricane scientists reported in
the April 18 Geophysical Research Letters that global warming enhances wind
shear, which will prevent a significant increase in future hurricane
activity.
Gore claims global warming is causing an expansion of African deserts.
However, the Sept. 16, 2002, issue of New Scientist reports, "Africa's
deserts are in 'spectacular' retreat . . . making farming viable again in
what were some of the most arid parts of Africa."
Gore argues Greenland is in rapid meltdown, and that this threatens to raise
sea levels by 20 feet. But according to a 2005 study in the Journal of
Glaciology, "the Greenland ice sheet is thinning at the margins and growing
inland, with a small overall mass gain." In late 2006, researchers at the
Danish Meteorological Institute reported that the past two decades were the
coldest for Greenland since the 1910s.
Gore claims the Antarctic ice sheet is melting because of global warming.
Yet the Jan. 14, 2002, issue of Nature magazine reported Antarctica as a
whole has been dramatically cooling for decades. More recently, scientists
reported in the September 2006 issue of the British journal Philosophical
Transactions of the Royal Society Series A: Mathematical, Physical, and
Engineering Sciences, that satellite measurements of the Antarctic ice sheet
showed significant growth between 1992 and 2003. And the U.N. Climate Change
panel reported in February 2007 that Antarctica is unlikely to lose any ice
mass during the remainder of the century.
Each of these cases provides an opportunity for Gore to lead by example in
his call for an end to the distortion of science. Will he rise to the
occasion? Only time will tell.

Find the June, 2007 edition of National Geographic at your local library. Turn to page 61, where this highly respected publication states (and I quote):
"Meanwhile, if global warming continues unabated, the coasts could drown. If vulnerable parts of the ice that blankets Greenland and Antarctica succumb, rising seas could flood hundreds of thousands of square miles - much of Florida, Bangladesh, the Netherlands - and displace tens of millions of people." That's what will happen if we don't do something now. The magazine goes on to say, "Few doubt, however, that another fifty years of business as usual will take us beyond a point of no return." -RKO- 07/01/07

global warming is such a big issue because it causes problems such as the breaking down of the ozone layer thus the ultra violet rays that come to earth cannot be emmited back, less pollution and use of greenhouse gases will cease global warming. Also there is a theory that the icebergs in antartica will melt and places liek new york will be flooded.

global warming
global warming is an increase in average temperature of the earths atmosphere.we are putting large amounts of carbon dioxide into the air, and it "blankets" up in the atmosphere trapping warm air in the earth.
global warming is melting the artic. the artic is the earths natural air conditioner. without the earth will become unbearibly hotter. if the artic fully melts the ocean will rise 20 feet. think of every foot of the ocean having an extra 20 feet of water on it. places will flood. one place in india, home to 60 million people will flood. the world trait centre memorial would be under water. in the year 2050 it is estimated the artic will be ful,ly melted . huge amounts of people will be starving and looking for a home. a million species of animals will be extinct.
things you can do:
-change a regular lightbulb to a compact florescent lightbulb
-walk instead of driving more often
-for your washing maching use cold water instead of hot
-install a low flow shower head for your shower
global warming is not a joke. be part of the solution, not part of the problem!

use car less save energy recycle stop wasting water things like that if global warming continues the ice and snow will melt animals will become extinct and either the water will evaportate through the hole in the ozone layer or the earth will be practically all land no water and we all dehydrate and be burned by the suns rays

It's partially due to man and partially due to nature. You can't do anything about the natural warming/cooling cycle of the earth. But, we can slightly delay global warming by cutting back on pollution or reducing the earth's population.

i read about this website on the Wall Street Journal: Carbon Diet Plan, which lists ways to improve one's ecological profile "and provides inspiration for your friends to do the same." I think it is a great idea to make an impact on global warming 1lb at a time.
