Baptist-turned-Pentecostal

Absolutely NOT. Homosexuality is detestable and an abomination unto God. Besides - if straight people can't get it right, why should I believe THEY can?

I was raised as a traditional Christian (Protestant). Shortly before Highschool, I started questioning my religion. I wanted something that I could really believe in... I looked into Mormonism, I was thinking of converting to that one for the longest time, practically all the way through highschool... I rejected that religion shortly before my Highschool graduation. I remember reading something about Emmanuel Swedenborg shortly before I graduated. Immediately I thought it was a cult... But later, I looked into it more and found that it was what I had believed all along... I would say that I am a Swedenborgian.

I am in favor of marriage. I believe in love, I believe that there is someone for everyone. If someone happens to be gay or bi, so be it! I believe that they have a "soul mate" and I hope that they will find him/her. I believe that everyone has the right to marry the person that they love and have a life together regardless of whether they are the same gender or different gender. Who should have the right to tell another that they're life style is "wrong"?

By the way, most of my life Iife I was totally against it... But conversian of religion also caused a few other beliefs (including my views on homosexuality) to change as well...
Make it legal!

Have a nice day. :)

Wiccan.

Religion should not be a factor in who is allowed to marry. Since many churches marry gays, those marriages must be treated the same as their marriage of straights. Either it is for all, or it is a religious, non-legal entity.
Leave marriages to religions, not states, and if governments want to give people tax breaks for cohabitation and other special rights, it shouldn't be a part of marriage.
Making gay marriage legal is the right thing to do, but the better thing is to not have any religious rite have legal bearing.
Some churches ALWAYS have allowed gay marriage, and wouldn't be changing a thing.

True Christians will stay out of controversies such as this one. It has nothing to do with God. God's laws are perfect. But God does not tolerate homosexual acts. So it is not the person that God can not tolerate it is the acts. If they want to worship God they must abstain from sex just like single Christians. If it doesn't matter then why try to marry in a religious ceremony? Or even go to a religious organization? We don't care what they do but don't try to force acceptance from us. Certainly Jesus would not perform acts of hatred to such people. Nor would he attend a gay parade or assembly. He would let them alone and that is what we should do also.

I have no religion. I am more of a spiritualist meaning every faith is valid to me. And yes gay people should allow to marry surely they could do a better job than the heterosexuals who have take the sanctity from marriage for marrying just because society deems it as acceptable

I am a straight Atheist and I support gay marriage.

I believe that Marriage is an institution first adopted by the church.... LAter, governments adopted it. I feel that in order for government to fulfuill it's promise to all it's citizens, they have to allow gay marriage. But on thhe other hand, we have to respect the rights of other to practice their beliefs. No church should be forced to perform a gay marriage, but I hope that one day, the people can wake up and see just how bigoted and hateful this is. You can not legislate your beliefs.

Atheist (which isn't a religion by the way).

100% in favor of abolishing the gender requirements in marriage.

Edit: "God invented the idea of marriage. People would have never come up with this concept." is the dumbest thing I have ever heard (or to be more precise - read).

Atheist. Of course it should be legal!

Edit. jmmevolve. How about if the law specifically gave religions the right to "Opt out" of performing such marriages?
(By the way, churches can and do have the right to refuse to marry ANYONE.)

Would you then say that gays should be allowed to marry? Or a you just using that as an excuse to be against it?

I am Muslim.

None of my business. Marriage is a religious practice, the government should keep out of it. Islam does not allow homosexual marriage, but it also clearly states that there is no compulsion in religion. If they are non-Muslim, why should they have to follow Islamic values, so long as it is between consenting adults and no non-consenting person is harmed by it?

Agnostic.

I'm in favor of extending marital status to any two consenting adults, provided they meet all non-gender related criteria. It is not fair only heterosexuals are allowed to experience this misery.
