DO NOT PICK IT!! it will make it patchy and then it will look crap. Just keep applying an antiseptic healing cream every morning and wear loose clothes so the scab dosent get knocked off. vaseline stops air getting to it which isnt good for it to heal.

Your artist should have told you.
However get some tattoo goo, or use Cocoa butter. DO NOT PICK IT. Savlon is also good but opinion amongst artists seems to be divided on the matter.
Keep using it until all scabbing has gone, and then keep it up for at least another week.
Do not go out in the sun with it exposed for two months with out serious factor sun block on it.

Don't put vassaline on it ! Wash it with soap and water gently 3 times a day pat dry with a clean towel . Once it has scabbed put baby oil on after washing to keep it moist . Trust me I've used many different methods and this is the best I've found . If you use Vassaline before it scabs it will draw out the colour. Good luck .

DONT USE VASELINE! Ppl who tell u 2 use it are ******* idiots! Savlon is good and a good anti bacterial soap will keep the germs a way! E45 will help keep ur tato moisturised but only use a TINY bit and dont rub! Once ur tat has healed u MUST put suncream spf50+ to keep ur tat looking gr8
GUD LUCK!

Did the tatto place not go over this with you? Scary thought seeing as how most artist will tell you how to keep your new body art in tip top shape.
But you need to keep it clean. Use neosporin on it at least 2-3 times a day. Don't get in a pool because the chlorine will fade any color you may have.

I found that SUN SCREEN 45 spf helps and keeps the itch to a minimum. It also works as a dual action to protect your tat from the sun. And of course as so many others has mentioned:
Don't pick the scab....takes away from the color of your tat
Don't use Vaseline....doesn't allow breathing
Please by all means stay away from Neo Sporin....searches for foriegn agents (the ink) and trys to remove them, hence lightening up your tat ink!!!

First of all, steve h is an idiot!
Now, please DO NOT use vaseline!!! Or Neosporin!!! Use an unscented lotion like Lubriderm unscented. Vaseline and Neosporin won't let it breathe. I don't know why so many people say to use it.
Don't pick at it, pat it dry... do not rub it, don't scratch it, try to wear clothes that won't rub it. That's all I can think of right now.

Use Preparation H cream. It's a bit embarrassing asking for it but it keeps the scabbing to a minimum. My tattoo artist recommended it.
