How can people be so insensitive?

everyday, as i browse through some of the questions in this section,i feel disgusted by how insensitive and careless people can be about other people's beliefs..Look, i'm not saying that everyone are like that,but just now i saw 2 questions on the same page, comparing the Qur'an to toilet paper(for crying out loud!!), and one of those actually got 2 stars!do i even have to start abt how jesus(PBUH) or Prophet Mohd.(PBUH) are mocked etc?its not just islam or christianity, each and every religion (or lack of it) is attacked;no one is safe...Come on people, these are things that are held close to our hearts, and it hurts us more than it angers us..I understand, you may not agree with everything, or should i say anything, we believe in, but i sincerely request you to please stop this immature and childish bashing..

wow, you people are so nice!!its people like you who help restore my faith in humanity..i'm not opposing free speech, people, but why is it so hard for you to respect others?why does all offensive remarks have to come under "free speech"? sounds like some sort of cowardly cover-up for all your mistakes..do you really think that when you scream out insults("free speech" for you guys), people wud actually listen?

there, again..when did i say tht i oppose discussions?i am all for a healthy argument...all i'm saying is tht you don't have to hurt other people's feelings to do tht.....(sigh)

Before the era of Yahoo! Answers I had no idea about how rude and insensitive some of the people in 'developed' countries of the world could be when they are not easily be traced or held up accountable for their actions.

We in Asia come across 'white' people of professional background whom we would admire and in extension would think that all these white peoples are so nice and kind and sensitive etc. But Y!A has given us the opportunity to meet the ordinary people of such developed country who are sometimes worse than our own kind.

Thanks Y!A for making the world connected at people-to-people level, thereby, dispelled some long held myth about 'white' people.

PS. Proponent of Free Speech, kindly spare me from your attack-by-the-pack mentality (lol).

People of religion A have a low opinion of people with religion B. In my country, a democracy called The United States of America, free speech is important. We have something called the first amendment that ensures we have the right to voice our opinions even if you don't like them! We can also form groups and exclusive clubs like a church where everyone's voice DOES NOT have to be heard. If you wish to be in an area without free speech you have a right to go elsewhere. You could even create a competitive site juts like Yahoo answers but where only your opinion prevails and there is no free speech. Not many people would come and that is why Yahoo answers allows, more or less, free speech.

I have no problem with this at all and i work in healthcare. However, that might mean i have gallows humour. Incidentally, did you know that the female equivalent to the prostate in the sense that it's from the same organ in the embryo is the uterus? So in a sense you do have a prostate, an enormous one which can carry a baby!

simple: they are human ...
monotheism by definition does not accept anything that is unlike itself. it may pretend to tolerate and even unite with other religions to fight a religion that is more evil, but fundamentally, they each claim to have the one and only truth.
and so... when responding to someone who believes something else and is obviously deluded, of course you don't need to respect their opinion, or feelings, because once they see the "light" they'll think about their old selves the same way you think about them.

The way I see it - if you are born black or white or deformed or blind or gay or whatever - there is no choice in the matter. No one has to defend being in this catagory. However - religion, political party, governing laws, etc. is a choice - a choice you must defend if you choose to impose your will on the subject. If you don't want to impose your will about the subjects - then shut up.
