The pagan community is a diverse community with many interesting views. But many also have a strong basic theme. So could the Pagan community united and form a religious/ political/ social powerbase and make better changes in the US and the world.

No, certain subgroups can unite into a largter community, but that would be the best that could happen. Plus you do need to redefine the term pagan.

A religious powerbase? No. Our religions are too varied. We have different worldviews, deities, ethical systems, goals, views on deities and afterlife, etc.

A political powerbase? No. I could probably find polytheists who believe in every political view possible. Besides, there are pagans in every country and each has their own different political systems. Pagans don't even fall into definite categories like conservative, liberal, or moderate. As a rule, they're too independent to compromise on any of their beliefs to support a powerbase that will further a cause they don't believe in.

Social powerbase? I'm not sure what you mean by this. Can you describe what you mean? Is this to further socialism in the world? To have private charities to help others?

That might take away the beauty of Paganism which is that all views are valid. I know what you are saying but Paganism is a spiritual path rather than a religious one and that is the reason I am Pagan.

Stop me if you've heard this one . . . "Organizing _____ is like herding CATS." :-)

Personally, I get as tired of other heathens who think Odhinn is a staunch neocon Republican as I did xians who think Jehovah is . . . lol. Pagans do tend to be a lot closer to me politically, but as Labgrrl so succinctly (and *accurately*) pointed out, the scholarship and firm grip on reality just isn't always there. Hey, we've got our Beeratru and our Neandertru and, well, those freakin' Hammerskins, so please understand that I'm not saying the presence of Fluffy Bunnikins, One Book HPs, and 17 year old "famtrads" calling themselves Rainforest Crystral Unicorn in any way discredits paganism or Wicca as a whole . . . it's just, people are people. Not all of them have a clue. :-)

Besides, even combined, we're still only about 2% of the electorate. You don't really think they'd let us eat at the big table, do you?

I accept as true with you, even to the degree that I take place to be a state chairman of the Pagan team spirit marketing campaign. although, it isn't any longer lots a Yahoo subject, Yahoo isn't being people who're disciminating against pagans. Yahoo is easily incredibly accomidating in the direction of the pagan community, have been for years. the concern is with different purchasers in this communicate board who're illiberal of alternative religions. a number of them, with countless debts each and each, checklist abuse on the comparable question, answer, or person to attempt to get them deleted till that individual appeals the violation. there are maximum of abuse comments an afternoon that yahoo canot save up with examining all of them, so there's a gadget in place to automaticly delete after maximum of comments. If a number of you woul desire to, click the communicate board button on the right, you will see a subject rely for sparkling up the religion and Spirituality type, and a subject rely submit via me entitled faith and Spirituality question and answer Deletions. Please submit your techniques and comments in there for yahoo to work out and probably make some recommendations approximately what could be accomplished approximately it. BB, Lord AmonRaHa

No. But they don't need to. Most Pagans are accepting and understanding of others differences. What they should do is stand up in support of everyone being treated equally regardless of personal religion. Wait... they've been doing that already.

This seems to be interesting to me.The definition of pagan( paganism) in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paganism is indicated a different way than what is being posted here. In this discussion it indicated as if there a nation or tribe, etc of pagan.

So, would you explain to me what pagan is ?

I would think that Pagans could unite under the common theme of respect for our planet.

no, and why would we want to?

To do that, Pagans would have to claim all paths of Paganism are equally valid for all people, and at that point, there's no point in bothering to practice anything.

Plus, some Pagans are crappy and think things like, oh...pointing out that eating bitter nightshade is deadly...is "oppression." (OR questioning historical validity of non-historical practices is being mean, or, if, for example, you're Celtic, and they're not, and they claim to be Celtic whatsits, and you point out Celts had no whatsits, they tell you that you, your ancestors and all the scholars are mean and oppressive....)

The Pagan community is huge and diverse, and some of it sucks.

Power corrupts, as Lord Acton observed. The more power, the greater the corruption.
