Specifically I am looking for ideas that tackle the areas that religion is still an authority on, such as the purpose of life or how to treat your fellow man. Or ideas about how to deal with new technologies that are sure to emerge, like cloning, stem cell research artificial intelligence, etc

It would be about making this world a better place for all humanity and would not be a requirement for any! (Judaism)

what you want to do is design a religion based on your own current belief system. Bad idea. I suggest a religion that naturally grows from a community of those with the same desire, a pursuit of spiritual truth. This is why no religion tackles technology that could never have been cognitively known about... it doesnt matter.

real religion would have to teach how to transcend ordinary consciousness which is a contracted awareness that identifies as one's thoughts. Not teach this in theory, but
to actually demonstrate how this can be accomplished. This should be the whole of the path, all of the rest can be seen clearly once the person awakens.
