There is a lot of truth in the bible.
Perhaps not literal, factual accounts of historical events, but much of the philosophy, and guides to living your life are still full of truth for many people today.
"Do unto others" is a good philosophy, and true today, regardless of whether or not some dude ever actually took a stroll on a pond.
"Thou shalt not kill" is a good philosophy, and true in today's society, regardless of whether or not some dude ever actually took a bunch of animals on a ride in a boat.
I think that even atheists can find a lot of truth in the bible, especially if we don't insist that every single word in the book is completely, 100% factually accurate. As metaphors and allegories, though, lots of good stuff in there.

erm...(scratches head) I think if you were to buy a used bible from a bookshop then inside the front cover there would be an accurate price that shop required for it? I suppose you could barter with him though...difficult one that..

There are many fine stories and fine examples of morality (as well as absurdities and twisted examples of morality). Of course, that's not because such morality originated with the Bible. Nevertheless there are many examples of good literature and morality that one can borrow from the Bible.

Are you preparing for a slippery slope argument? If we concede one thing, then we should believe it all. Wouldn't that be a hoot.
