I have a very small 1 bedroom house right now. I need to add on a small bedroom for my son. It will only be about 8X8 with a small closet. We have no basement, so that won't be an issue. Any guesses on how much this might cost? I know, I will have to call a contractor sooner or later, I'm just trying to get some figures.

Building costs run about $100 a sq. ft. Probably will cost more for an add on, depending on the roof line and the type of foundation. Probably about the only way to know for sure is get three estimates from contractors.
Be sure and check out any contractor you hire and do not pay all of the money up front.

If your house is to small now, imagine adding 2 bedrooms and a bath, it's only going to be smaller. Just find a bigger house. A 3 bedroom with 1 and a half bath.

8 by 8 is extremely small & won`t hold him for long, unless you plan to move in the next few years. Just quick figuring in my head tells me the materials should run 1500 to 2000, & labor could be as much as 4000. I`m guessing 5 to 7 thousand. I went as high as 7000 because there are almost always some unforseen costs.

I'd guess minimum, $100.00 per sq. ft. Could run $150.00 up.
64 sq. ft. $6,500.00 up.
