Just wait about 15 years or so...at that point they'll never want to speak to you at all...the house should be nice and quiet then.
For now...enjoy the noise as much as possible...and let them play outside often so they can be as loud as they want without bothering anyone.

This question would be easier to answer if we knew how old your children are. For age 18 and under I would use a pacifier but only when a baby is screaming for a long time, I know my 17 month old just likes to suck on one once in awhile. For my two year old I will put her in time out or take away toys for about 20 minutes and she usually calms down. For my five year old boys they usually get sent to their rooms.
Now if they are being loud for attention or because they don't feel good I would hold or cuddle them until they calm down and for at least 10 minutes after that. I also talk softly and calmly to my kids and they either calm down or fall asleep.

Spend quality time with them. When children feel neglected/bored they will do anything for attention. Have fun be consistence go to the park, read books, be creative. Search the web for activities and local free family fun.
Have a routine once you have this established and everything else will fall in place.
And also ask family and or friends for assistance you may just need a break to get a fresh look on things.
good luck :)

Your Children are obviously bored and in need of attention, so play games quiet games with them, take them swimming or to the park and when they burned off there energy just tell them that they don't need to make so much noise.

How old are they? if they are little, give them something to do i.e. painting, drawing, play dough, skittles, puzzles, building blocks, favourite dvd, if they are teenagers, have a friend over or let them cook , make a pizza, or curry, or cakes, play sherades, games on pc, I have 5 children and they always hav something to do so they always play nicely, ok thay are not always quiet but lets face it they are kids after all, get them interested in something, a club or hobby, my girls love creative stuff, my eldest boy likes football, and my little boy whos 3 loves playing, looking at books, puzzles, blocks, drawing, cars, etc, and of course we all sit together at night and talk about what their day has been like

what do mean make them quiet?
Children should only be made to be quiet at bedtime and at meal times.
My son is hyperactive he wakes up at 6 and dont stop to sit down all day unless eating even then its a task as he just wants to be on the go.
But i would never dream of making him be quiet,if i wanted a quiet house i wouldn't of had him.
Children have the right to play and should be allowed to do so,so long as they are not being naughty then you should just let them be or ask them to play in there bedrooms or back yard.
Would you like to be told to shut up or be quiet?

Children being quiet good luck.
Depending upon his ir her age, it is a device God has given them and the only helpful hint is:
Patiences and tender loving care, could it be they are not being heard?
And they pick-it up from care takers.
Or other surroundings.
Lack of attention.
And sometimes the complete opposite, they are in control of all conversation at home.
So many reasons.
It may just be the childs personality.
But you used the word children-so its plural.
Tough one!

when do you want them to be quiet?they cant be quiet all the time,as they have to let off steam, but try to section the day off, morn, breakfast, dress, wash,do whatever, school, etc, then when they come home change to play gear, maybe take them to local park, for a run about, let off some energy, take home, say its tea time now,so settle down,as they have had a tiring day,and after tea if they are good, and quiet,we will do a jigsaw,or read a book, something peaceful, then do the bedtime routine, take to bed, talk to them for a bit and ask what they want to do next day, then you have an idea of what to sort out, hopefully they will start to calm down, they will be tired, and have had fun,and go to sleep

Sounds like you need a little "me time". See if someone else can watch them for a while, then you can have some quiet time and do the things you like to do. The next time you see them, maybe you'll be a little more refreshed and ready to deal with them.
