Personally, I don't believe in organized religion. I read my bible, pray, and try to be a good Christian. I think growing up Catholic and then searching for salvation & grace in a Methodist Church, Episcopal Church, Lutheran Church and Baptist Church over several years left a bad (specifically: hypocritical) taste in my mouth. What's your excuse?

Ted...you are right, however, every congregation I've tried to be a part of turned out to be a bunch of hypocties. Doesn't congregating with my family in worship and prayer count? What do you suggest??
On, and as far as those non-denominational churches, I think there is really something wrong with using wide screen tv's and neon signs to praise God.

I don't have an excuse. I am dress for church at this moment and I attended a church yesterday for Holy Communion(Lord's supper). I enjoyed the worship service yesterday and the fellowship with friends after the church service. I won't say that I've always had a positive experience in church. There have many times that I wanted to stay home. Today, my primary focus is to worship the Lord. He has been the center of my life and he has blessed me in so many ways. I am appreciated to God for health, employment, and my family. I believe that God put all the pieces together in my life, therefore I attend church out of my commitment and gratitude to Christ for all that he has done for me. I would hope that you would change your outlook, and forget about the negative experiences and begin to look at your overall relationship with Christ from a different perspective and begin to make your way back to the place of praise and worship. I am sure your friends will be glad to see you back. May God bless you and may you continue to grow in his love and grace. Proverbs 3:5,6.

God is always in my heart. Everyday, I thank the heavens above that I have a great family and a great life. I know what is right and I know what is wrong. I never hurt anyone intentionally and I live my life trying to be the best person that I can be. I grew up in a catholic school going to church every Sunday for 17 years and it never left a bad taste in my mouth. I never felt as if I had to read the bible and I don't have to search for anything. Don't be such a hypocrite! Allow people to live the life they want to without having to be critical of the choices they make because its not what you do. God is God and you don't really have to go to church every Sunday to say you are religious. Praying can be done anywhere, especially your own home while answering questions on Yahoo.

I'm much like you; I don't believe in organized religion. I was raised Catholic, then tried other religions, too , and found myself in a cult situation. I have fellowship, Bible studies, etc. with many Christian friends from different churches. Some people go to church for the fellowship, which is nice, I pray, and have a personal relationship with Christ, which works for me. Many churches have man made rules, and some do teach from the Bible. If a person does a careful search, they can find a church that teaches the Bible. However, I believe in Spirituality and having a relationship with Christ, and not following organized religion.
On Sunday morning, I can sit here, in my PJ's, have a cup of coffee, and Google many interesting topics about God...
So....now...why aren't you at church? ;~)

I am atheist. Long story.
Anyhow, I no longer attend church unless it's for specific reasoning that I agree with; wedding, or something. I will attend a Sunday service if it's for a baptism or confirmation of friends or family.
However, that is not to say I would be opposed to attendence without specific reasoning; I'm always open to learning new things. Therefore, in the future, I may go again--not because it's in my faith, but because I strive to acheive knowledge, especially that regarding religion, and church is a good place to get such information.

We have a 11 A.M. service - so I have time.
I was brought up also in the church of Rome, today I attend a Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. The RP's can be found through out the world and have a long history of standing strong for the gospel.

I don't believe that I need an excuse not to go to church. It's not a requirement, as far as I am concerned. Some Sundays I go, and others I don't. I am a good Christian, I treat others as I want to be treated, and I pray and worship God. My Christianity is personal to me.
Sometimes I get a lot of comfort and encouragement from church. At other times, I just want to be alone and reflect.
Everyone does what is best for him/her.

that is what is wrong...you are going to church...
I call it worship service, and, i go if i have the time off on sunday morning as, I am sometimes scheduled at work.. I go to worship God...it is not an attendance thing, It is a very important part of being a christian. (try the assembly of god church)...you would be surpized what a difference it will be to you when you attend.
Reading your bible and all the things you mentioned are great, but, nothing takes the place of Worship.
and, I am on my way, worship services starts at 10:30am

Church doesn't start here for about another half hour. I can understand not liking the organized religions but the Bible does say we should not forget to fellowship with our brethren. I found the non-denominational churches to be less about the denomination and more about God. Going helps me stay focused and gives me the opportunity to be involved in the many outreach programs for the community.

Flipdout.............I'm leaving for Church in a few minutes, go every Sunday and Wednesday evening. If you read the Bible, it says to not forsake the congregation. You said you're trying to be a good Christian, then you should do what Christ told you to do, go to Church.

No excuse. It's almost 3:30 in the afternoon, and church services were canceled today because of Rheinland-Pfalz Days, which has congested traffic horribly, and closed the main gate onto post until Tuesday.
I live in Baumholder, Germany.
